RE POST
At this time after I watched the incredibly moving victory speeches by Vice President Elect Kamala Harris and President Elect Joseph Biden I would like to celebrate this great achievement by taking a look back to a post that I put on DU a few years ago.
I posted this in the summer of 2017. I rearranged the lyrics to a Bob Dylan song. Following my lyrics are additional lyrics from another DU member red dog 1…who I still need to give credit to. With apologies to Bob Dylan, folk music artists, folk music fans, and maybe even some flower children SWINGIN' IN THE WIND How many things can a man do wrong Before we say he has gone too far? How many times can a man repeat a wrong over and over before we call it bizarre? How many lives can a man disrupt before we take a stand? How many seas can a man pollute before we say not in our land? How many times will we let the insults fly Before they’re forever banned? The answer, my friend, is swingin' in the wind The answer is swingin' in the wind How many years can a criminal empire exist Before everyone is tried and sent to jail? How many times must we keep seeing this Before honesty and truth prevail? How many times can the justice system turn its head And pretend that it just doesn’t see – the answer The answer, my friend, is swingin' in the wind The answer is swingin' in the wind How many times can a man look up Before he sees the sky? How many ears must one person have Before he can hear people cry? And how many deaths will it take 'till he knows That too many people have died? The answer, my friends, is swingin' in the wind The answer is swingin' in the wind Oh, the answer, my friends, is swingin' in the wind The answer is swingin' in the wind Here are the lyrics from red dog 1 How many times can a man tell a lie Before he is known as a liar? How many deaths can he cause by his deeds Before he will roast in Hell's fire? How many tweets can he post every day Just to lash out at all those he hates? How much junk food can he shove in his mouth Before he can't fit through the gates? How many threats can he make against those Who refuse to do what he wants? The answer, my friend, is blowing through his hair, The answer is blowing through his hair ![]()
