on the night Pres Trump says he expects the election to end up in the Supreme Court, @Yamiche reports one of his legal advisers said today "they're hoping Amy Coney Barrett quote "comes through"

(25,454 posts)In fact, it was never going to happen. It was just another Trump pipe dream. John Roberts even tried to warn him - he made a very public statement that courts don't determine election rules or laws; state legislatures do.
It was just more Trump bluster and lies, just like tonight.

(7,820 posts)There was a reason it had to be done by Election Day. Not that I think its gonna help. But it was one of the first things Trump said after the vote totals started coming in was he was going to take it to the Supreme Court.

(4,137 posts)It will literally break the country. We cannot have a nakedly partisan court. States will openly start defying it. It could end the country.

(42,541 posts)But the flip side is that once she was confirmed, a lot of GOP lawmakers had everything they really wanted from Trump and might then be more anemic in their support of his reelection.

(1,789 posts)Sorry dude, no special orders. He has no legal standing to even get a case that far. He has been going into courts with nothing but "we think there's fraud" and has been shown the door in short order in each case.

(10,749 posts)That doesnt mean it will. So far Trumps lawsuits have been denied damn near instantaneously. Snd with good reason. The law isnt on their side, and their complaints are paper thin.
And if it does end up there, we cant overlook the fact that if the court rules in favor of trump Roberts legacy will be utter shit and the court will lose all legitimacy for generations ( to the extent that any legitimacy remains).

(11,256 posts)All of the votes in PA arrived on or before Election Day. Trump's argument is that a person should be disenfranchised because his or her state took too long to count their vote.
It's just not happening. If the Court takes this case, it's still likely to be 9-0.
