Will "Trumpism" outlast Trump?

A hallmark of the Trump years has been the lack of any meaningful legislative accomplishment. His EO's will be voided immediately by Biden. His appointees stripped of rank, title and access, and their nefarious actions stopped and reversed. Trump has shouted "I have a plan" for nearly every hot-button issue, but never actually produced any plans. (Because he is lazy, disorganized and erratic.) He will likely curtail his "rallies" when he loses AF-1 and has to pay all costs out of pocket. Not a single leader, domestic or international, will meet with "Citizen" Trump, because he is a self-centered ass. His creditors will turn the screws because there is no profit left courting favor, and accommodating Trumper tantrums. His supporters won't have a rallying point and will retreat to the shadows where they usually lurk. He will be a President with an asterisk.

It's hard for successors to Hitler or Mussolini to arise when the allies were occupying their countries.

But cults of personality are hard to resurrect. To give a far more benign example than a bunch of dictators, when MLK was killed, Ralph Abernathy took over for him, but never was able to replicate his success because he lacked the charisma.

I could tolerate American conservatives, up to a point. Trumpies aren’t conservatives. They’re something very special. Racists. Fascists. Toothless mouth-breathers. Morons. Assholes. Trophy hunters. And so on.

They will just latch on to the next jerk that gets the republican nomination. In order to defeat Trumpism we needed a bigger win than we got. So guess Democrats are going to have to work on that in the coming years.

His cult members are not very swift and can be easily distracted.

When you take away their Fat Orange Kewpie Doll, their minds may wander elsewhere in no time.

Trump will regain some measure of notoriety when his name starts appearing as DEFENDANT on a long list of state and federal court cases. That's the TV coverage I would watch.

I especially like his losing AF1. Will he hold rallies if he must pay. Unlikely. World leaders will seek out Biden. Bet the Queen sends an invite soon. Most happily, Barr will be gone. Homeland Security will be in responsible hands. EOs will be rescinded. The CDC will regain its past respect and lead us out of the Covid crisis. The nuclear codes will be in safe hands again. No more tweets. The White House will be free of the awful degrading presence of the skanky Melania and the grifters, Ivanka and Jared. I am hopeful the Idiots health will decline and he becomes the simpering, drooling fool he is.

Since the 70s conservatives have developed a set of hot-button issues that they can use to steam people up and get them voting their way over a single or small set of issues. Their daily saturation of the airwaves and other media have framed issues according to their talking points, using that weird dialect of English were things mean whatever conservatives want them to mean (e.g., "socialism" is anything that impedes sending money skyward, as much as possible as fast as possible as high as possible).

Until that system is disrupted, the mindless fantasy-driven zealotry will continue.
