Sure, Omaha Steve is a treasure, but it appears that without Nebraska's decision to split its electoral votes, this thing could have been headed in a very bad direction at 269-269. Aside from Douglas County (Omaha) and Lancaster County (Lincoln) voting for Biden, the rest of the state is f'ed up, but let's not forget that the Cornhusker State may very well have played a huge part in Dumping Trump.

(1,572 posts)I lived in Nebraska the first thirty years of my life. Omaha for the last ten years. Thank you Omaha, for your electoral vote. I simply do not understand how a state (other than Omaha and Lincoln) can shoot themselves in the foot and vote for a stooge like Trump. Maybe they are just all racist and unaware of what this person really stands for.

Family in Richardson County (Falls City), and they baffle me, though I love them, aside from my one cousin, who's an actual Nazi. They have sent their children to fight and die for this country because of W's bullshit war in Iraq. At another cousin's funeral, one uncle came up to me and actually questioned whether the war was worth it. Yet I see them on facebook with their Trump campaign cookies and signs, and it's just too much for me to understand how otherwise good people can be taken in by such a con artist. And then I realize they're listening to Limbaugh in their tractors all day, and then they come home to Fox News. They are terrified of nonexistent boogiemen concocted by hate radio and Fox News. They're pretty much unreachable, and one of them is truly deplorable. (The Nazi, and that's what Hillary meant when she called THOSE Trump supporters "deplorables."
Peace.
I grew up in Seward and moved to Omaha and graduated from University of Nebraska at Omaha.
I am sorry to hear about your family. Mine pales in comparison. The most awful thing I can think of is my oldest brother thought Newt Gingrich was the best. Obviously we could not discuss politics.
