"Lets stop with the mental gymnastics. They know exactly why they stand behind Trump. They consistently vote for him to maintain the status quo. They benefit from it. They want white supremacy. They want systemic racism. They want a wall. They want us to be deported."

(22,462 posts)to make it harder for minorities to move into their communities. They probably want that. I thought it was awful for him to say that but I bet a lot of people want to make sure that happens.
We really do need to educate people somehow in this country.

(9,189 posts)The 2020 exit poll is a kludge of the respondents who actually voted on election days, and telephone polls trying to get a sample of earlier voters The two are not comparable.

(33,999 posts)The majority of whites (regardless of gender) voted for trump. That sucks. But white men voted for Trump at a greater rate than white women (58-55%) - and white women voted for Biden at a greater rate than white men did (43-40%).
I agree with the rest of your analysis - but it pertains equally (if not more) to white men.

(933 posts)...then they want the African-American or other minority vote to help them out.
whathehell
(29,034 posts)not actual votes, and, as the other poster points out, it was based primarily on
same day voters which we know are mainly Republicans
African--Americans and Hispanics who vote Democratic are helping themselves out, and even some of them vote Republican.
PirateRo
(933 posts)I am agreeing with the op.
And yes, Minorities voting democratic are helping themselves by voting their self-interest. Nothing wrong with that

How 'bout we wait for the actual VOTES to be counted before we get before we start the Trash and Blame game?

(14,176 posts)I'm sure a large portion of white women voted for tRump, and maybe it was even something approaching 55%, but the percentages among black voters just don't ring true to me and make me doubt its reliability. 8% of black women *did not* vote for tRump nor did almost 20% of black men ( low double digits maybe, but not 18%).
Anyhow, in an election like this year's, and with the unreliability of the other polls, I'm going to hold off on this and pray that the reason Biden increased Sec Clinton's vote margin is because of something more than just white men deserting tRump.

(8,019 posts)elections have been so totally tampered with by domestic and overseas bad actors, that polling means nothing NOTHING if this country doesn't protect our votes and our elections.
And why not? There is so much MONEY riding on elections. How could anyone think that people would NOT try to interfere, if the money is right? Is our country really that friggin' naive?
That needs to become our FIRST priority. I know so many white women who absolutely hate trump. Registered republican woman, and I know they were excited to vote AGAINST trump.
I say...the polls are messed up for several reasons, but until we secure our elections, polls don't matter, and I'm not even sure if our votes don't matter!!

(22,308 posts)it's often accepted that women are "more liberal" than men, and that their sisterhood with all women makes them a force for progress, when we see over and over again that that is simply not the case.
whathehell
(29,034 posts)but, for starters, you need to compare the number of white female and white male Trump voters in 2016. Across the board, women were far more likely to vote Democratic than men.
After that, check out the Million Women March in DC the day after Trump's inaugural.
If you're still confused, compare the respective gender compositions of Democratic and Republican Congress members. You will see MANY more women among the Democrats.

(22,308 posts)I mean, I'll spell it out: I'm not comparing white women to white men. I'm comparing white women to white women, which shows that more white women vote for Trump than against him. Whiteness is something that's hard to let go of, and BIWOC see this in activist circles when working with white women.
