(19,264 posts)My larger point was even on DU plenty of people have bought the RW talking points that the prior votes were confusing or not clear. Here we have a straight up or down vote and Puerto Ricans want statehood.

(795 posts)They are able to do their own trade agreements. US tariffs do not apply to them. They can actually import Chinese goods and then reship them to the US so they will not be hit with a tariff.
Also, you think 4% is a clear statement? "no" can be a scary choice. Does it mean stay with the current sitution or independence, or as IQ45 has suggested, being traded or sold to another country.
