'West Wing' cast reunites for video backing Michigan Supreme Court justice's 2020 campaign
Two presidents of the United States and their high-powered aides are starring in a new video that supports the re-election of a Michigan judge.
The fact that theyre not actual White House figures, but only played them on TV, doesnt make the endorsement any less impressive. In fact, some might argue that the cast of The West Wing has more clout than most politicians.
Bridget Mary McCormack, the state's Supreme Court chief justice, got a campaign boost Friday from a YouTube video that begins with comments from Martin Sheen, who played President Jed Bartlet on the Emmy-winning political drama that ran from 1999 to 2006 on NBC.
Sheen is followed by his "West Wing" co-stars, who appear in separately filmed segments due to the coronavirus pandemic: Allison Janney (C.J. Cregg), Bradley Whitford (Josh Lyman), Richard Schiff (Toby Ziegler) , Dule Hill (Charlie Young), Janel Moloney (Donna Moss), Joshua Molina (Will Bailey), Melissa Fitzgerald (C.J. assistant Carol Fitzpatrick) and Jimmy Smits (Bartlet's successor, President Matt Santos).
Also included? Mary McCormack, sister of Michigan's top jurist, who portrayed Bartlet's deputy national security adviser, Kate Harper, for three seasons.
