trump's security agencies are...which we all know they're NOT, at the moment, under trump's heavy hand, and a preview about how elections are being messed with for when trump wants to take it all to court. Trying to act like they're on top of this, and then to hand it to him when he goes to court to invalidate Joe's win...it's a set up.

I'm a journalist, and I know that any journalist worth their salt knows HOW to be skeptical. In most cases, however, there's a strong push from upper management, either because that management is pro-Trump, because they are afraid of alienating their advertising base, or because they are afraid of losing even the shitty level of access to the administration that they have. There's also the question of the talking heads (television in particular) who tend to be both conservative and, frankly, not terribly bright.

It's worth noting that we're seeing a pretty dramatic sea change right now. TV's dying, and the Internet skews younger and more progressive. Ironically, the print media started making the transition about twenty years ago, and while they went through a hard learning curve, the NYT, WaPo and so forth are now far more Internet-ready than the broadcast stations.

Cheerleaders for the city, the region, the state. After the first Stars game, the news came on and the studio was lit up with green lights, the anchor had on a green dress and the first few minutes of the broadcast were all about the game. And it's not just sports--it's any politician, celebrity, company that is from the area. I see how that makes them more locally newsworthy, but it definitely goes beyond that to a root, root, root for the home team mentality.

Most of the time I have it muted while waiting for the weather. And there's so much nonsense and yukking it up going from the news to the weather that the weather person usually has to talk really fast to get all their weather stuff in.
