Pierce: The President Is a Wounded Animal

The President Is a Wounded Animal
Donald Trump's latest public demand of Bill Barr would be inconceivable if anything were inconceivable anymore.

By Charles P. Pierce
Oct 20, 2020

He's wounded animal. I didn't believe at first that the tawdry ratfcking of the Hunter Biden story really was the October Surprise on which El Caudillo Del Mar-a-Lago had been counting ever since Joe Biden clinched the Democratic nomination a century ago last spring. But, as the last week unfolded, and it was revealed that the story was so rancid that it prompted a wildcat byline strike by reporters at the New York Post, of all places, it had become clear that he'd been hoping that it would turn into the 2020 equivalent of the James Comey letter to Congress that did so much to help him win four years ago. And it is equally clear that he can't let it go because he has nothing else. From Yahoo! News:

“We’ve got to get the attorney general to act,” Trump said in a telephone interview with “Fox & Friends” when asked whether a special prosecutor should be appointed to probe unverified allegations against the Bidens. “He’s got to act. And he’s got to act fast. He’s got to appoint somebody. This is major corruption, and this has to be known about before the election.”

The idea that even Bill Barr could gin up a special prosecution force and conclude its investigation all in the next 14 days is self-evidently loopy. He's a wounded animal.

So, on Thursday night, the first time that they mute his microphone while Biden is talking, I don't know what will happen, but it will not be like anything we've seen in a political debate before. It is not inconceivable that he walks off the stage entirely. Nor is it inconceivable that he'll simply talk louder. Nor is it inconceivable that...well, there's nothing inconceivable anymore. That word doesn't mean what we thought it meant. Not anymore. Being a casual friend of Kristen Welker, I am seriously considering doing a novena on her behalf Wednesday night. Or, at the very least, I may send her a whip and a chair. He is a wounded animal, and he's chewing off his own leg to get out of the trap.

it is. Rudi and trump. Who in the world trusts either one of these scumbags? Some laptop, w/ chain of custody issues out the wazoo to begin with, if there is anything even like a laptop involved and how in the world did rudi and his thugs get a hold of this so called laptop? Seems far fetched and full of holes big enough for an elephant to walk through.

What a sad thing. He and his family are the best neighbors we could ever have. Always helping us out by taking down our trash barrels on pick up day and bringing them back up. He, his wife and kids always do it, every pick up day.

issue and that people literally don't care about it. With this disgusting administration, literally every day there is some story about it, and it's especially delicious when a 'story' doesn't take off and they get upset that people aren't paying attention to it. Too bad. I'm sick of all of the drama, the stories, the constant whining, etc. Just about everybody I talk to is exactly like this, they are sick and tired of the whining, the bitching, the moaning, the ranting, etc. We are tired of it.

Take care...maybe your neighbors will see the light? Like they say, you don't talk religion, politics and something else (I can't recall at the moment) with people. A good neighbor like that to help you take the trash out for you etc. is indeed nice.

in the honor of their infant daughter who died there after being born just too early to sustain life. It was such a sad story. They set up a fund for a room in her name for parents of preemies who are struggling to live so they can talk privately with doctors.

She is well known in our city, having been the Health and Science reporter at our local ABC news outlet and having on camera report several times a week. People like her. And she never talks politics.

I kinda feel sorry for them. They are in a sea of Democrats here in New Haven with all these Dems from the mayor on up. They don't seem to be too exercised about our Senators but I think he made a snarky crack about our Rep. Rosa DeLauro who will win against a big money non politician who is paying for her own campaign. She hasn't done anything to even remotely run for office against Rosa. And she's a dope.

laptop story the focus of the debate on Thursday. I'm certain that's the reason for the timing of the release of the story and hope that Biden is prepared with a strong comeback that will show both Trump and the story as insane.

But another concern of mine about the debate is that Trump will intentionally violate the space between him and Biden in order to shout Biden down when Trump's mic is off. Biden needs to have a mask ready to put on quickly in case of such an event. Maybe also have some disinfectant spray, gel, or wipes on hand. Trump's aggressive behavior cannot and should not be underestimated.

He was really counting on Hunter Biden to provide him with some kind of Comey Moment, another October Surprise, never seeming to realize Hunter Biden is not only not running for office, he's had less to do with Joe Biden's campaign than his spawn have had to do with his own.

Dumdum is now snapping and snarling at everyone around him. He is exposing what he's been all along to more and more people. Wounded animal comes after he realizes a bunch of nobodies decided he should go...and it sticks.
