If Biden wants to meet moment like FDR, he needs appointees like Frances Perkins & Harold L. Ickes.

Kevin M. Kruse Retweeted

They're right. If Biden wants to meet the moment like FDR, he needs appointees like Frances Perkins & Harold L. Ickes. If it's just musical chairs among the same corporate and legal elite, he'll get nowhere and Dems will pay for it in 2022 & 2024.

3. That was Joe Biden's statement when they all joined forces on stage in the Primary.

Joe Biden 's word is his North Star.

I don't want FDR. I want the vision & embrace of the future Joe Biden sees.
I am really excited about what great visionnaries his Cabinet, & appointees for the groups he'll create in bringing all hands together.

2. Already drawing battle lines. JFC

Haven't them done enough damage to this country.

AMY BARRETT for starters.
Women's Rights for starters.

How bout work with him rather than draw battle lines against him.

Wtf is this.

"..no C-suite level corporate execs ought to have Senate-confirmed positions"

So only they get to say. Not Joe not Harris.
Only them.

🙄

4. Glad to see that some progressive Democrats are open to a man like Harold L Ickes, a Republican

True he was a progressive Republican of that era, unlike Harding, Coolidge or Hoover. Ickes harkened back to the progressive Republicans of Teddy Roosevelt's day. Ickes had headed the NAACP at one point but was selected for the cabinet to appeal to middle-of-the-road voters according to Wikipedia.

7. They are real, accurate descriptors, and we eliminate those words at our peril

Neoliberalism is an actual political ideology, not just an epithet cast about on the internet. It has helped to create the greatest income inequality in the modern world, and has enhanced the influence of lobbyists in Washington.

Other 3rd way neoliberals who shouldn’t get anywhere near the Biden Administration:

Rahm Emmanuel
Tim Geitner
Joe Manchin
Joe Lieberman
Chris Matthews
Chuck Todd
Michael Bennet
Chris Coons
Ted Kaufman

...this is not a complete list

9. They were losely slung at every Democrat they wanted to primary whether it fit or not.

Those words have now become so tainted to mean an entire swath of a demographic.

Throwing those overused labels on any opponant no matter their true political record or ideology has become nothing more than a political wedge to discredit.

They f'd up the true usefulness of those identifiers.

10. That doesn't change the fact the those who would advocate against substantive change

That benefits all Americans should not be in a Biden administration, nor should those who advise austerity measures, nor should those who think merely returning to status quo normalcy is good enough in this time of multiple health, economic, and environmental crises.

We may be exhausted after 4 years of Trump, but that doesn’t mean we stop fighting.

11. Who are they referring to. "Americans should not be in a Biden administration,"

And tell me who they'd believe is pure enough to be in the Biden admin? THEMSELVES?!! Haaa. Yes only their own. The same group of uber purists that assisted in destroying the only candidate with a stellar complete resume on Human Rights, the Law, and global policy., ALL in the intent of advancing nations beyond what the years of fight brought and THAT somehow equates to not pure enough for a group who comes now with their DEMANDS.

A group who has never walked a day or month or year in the fight for Human rights as those who lead the fight long ago.

A group who without the efforts of many long years of fight by those Dems who walked before them, would not have the positions they now hold.

Who exactly do they prefer to seat in Joe Bidens cabinet that come with the knowledge, wisdom & lifetimes of experience as this nation grew & improved under their care.

WTF.

I will trust Joe Biden & those who he chooses, to advise him in policy & global affairs before I will trust a group who comes with a list of DEMANDS.

A group who had the self serving shortsightedness in 2016, that assisted in bringing about the current catastrophy that Jo Biden will be tasked with cleaning up.

It did not have to be the way it is today.

So far thus group with their list of DEMANDS , hasn't done much to prove that they are capable of leading a nation the size & stature of the USA.

They have good prepared sperches & photo ops.
Plenty of 'likes' on social media.
What accoomplishments have they on record that show me they have both hindsight & foresight to lend credence to their resume.

Biden is more than capable of putting togethet a solid forward Cabinet, advisors & teams to fulfill his vision domestically & abroad.

Our allies know when they ask for Joe Biden his word is his honor.

Joe will ask for their help when he sees fit.
