11. Yeah we love the Uk crime shows. Shetland was great

Amazing scenery. One of us would say we should take a vacation there is so beautiful, the other would say are you kidding? 79 people live there and at least one person gets murdered every week!

20. Midsomer Murders is gold

especially the first 75 episodes. After awhile they stopped shooting on locations as much and moved to more studio PD scenes, and mixed in a little spice for younger demographics. And the replacement Barnaby ... so-so in my mind. And the sidekicks kept changing. They had the benefit of longer episodes in Europe - 90 min basically. But any series runs out of scripts. I think they tend to plateau.

Jane Wymark, Barnaby's wife, is the real-life daughter of Patrick Wymark, perhaps best known as Col. Turner in the movie "Where Eagles Dare". His stage name Wymark was his wife's grandfather's name. He was born Patrick Cheeseman, and died shortly after "Where Eagles Dare".

13. Happy Birthday, Angela Lansbury!

Fun Facts:

Angela's paternal grandmother, Bessie, was a Suffragette.

Angela's grandfather, George Lansbury, was the leader of the Labour Party in England and tried to stop WW2. They ended up fleeing Liverpool on the same day that it was bombed.

Angela's daughter with husband Peter Shaw, Deirdre, was mesmerized with Charles Manson and for only a short time became their (the Manson family) own personal ATM.

17. Watched every single episode. More than once

There used to be an inside joke that all the aging stars found roles there. But she also had as yet unknowns like George Clooney and Faith Ford.

Bill Maher was there twice!

18. Absolutely!!!! My friends gave me grief because I NEVER went out Sunday night...

60 minutes
Murder She Wrote
Masterpiece Theatre
British SitComs.

My friends called it "my old lady TV," though not as old then and not a lady.

Angela Landsbury was one of the finest actors of the stage and screen, originating many memorable roles.

Happy Birthday Angela!!!!

21. This was Sunday night must see TV for our family back in the day

Two girls starting when the oldest was @10. One cocker spaniel, one bowl of buttered pop corn all gathered in a pit. And one of us would always say something like "Meeting Jessica is not good for a long life" or something like that.

MSW grew out of the Ellery Queen show with Jim Hutton that lasted only a year. We loved that one also.
