A Tennessee mayor has resigned after he was allegedly caught shoplifting around $300 worth of merchandise from Target.

Fairview Mayor John Blade, 53, submitted his resignation Tuesday, nearly a month after he was accused of swiping items from a store in Spring Hill, the Nashville Tennessean reported.

The store loss prevention officer claimed that Blade used the self-checkout line Sept. 19, but didn’t pay for all of the products and walked out with $281 worth of stolen merchandise, news station WKRN reported.

The goods included more than 40 household items, including three tweezers and skin products, authorities said.

I live in TN & didn't know where this lottle town is, although I'm not a native. I've seen enough to reasonably presume if it isn't Memphis or sometimes Nashville, the election results are red.

Often, there aren't even opposing candidates. One repuke on my ballot for local race & I was tempted to write in 'the devil' to make my point, but didn't want to risk spoiling my ballot.

As a criminal defense lawyer for 25+ years, I can tell you that bi-polar disorder is often connected with shoplifting. When someone is in the manic phase he or she often feels "bulletproof" and every bad idea they ever had suddenly seems like a brilliant idea.
