This story is incredibly alarming. California Republicans are allegedly creating fake drop boxes and tricking voters into depositing their ballots in them. Officials said the California secretary of state's office has received several reports in recent days of possibly illegal drop boxes for ballots in three counties.

Secretary of State Alex Padilla's office said it is coordinating with local officials to investigate the reports of unauthorized boxes in Orange, Los Angeles and Fresno counties, according to the Orange County Register.

"Operating unofficial ballot drop boxes - especially those misrepresented as official drop boxes - is not just misleading to voters, it's a violation of state law," Padilla said in a statement.

But those containers, which were first reported by the Orange County Register and KCAL, are not county-authorized ballot drop-off sites. In fact, the unofficial boxes are against the law, state officials said Sunday.

person (not including county or state elections officials) providing a drop box, whether or

imprisonment pursuant to subdivision (h) of Section 1170 of the Penal Code for
two, three or four years, who at any election:
(a) Without first having been appointed and qualified, acts as an election officer.
(b) Not being an election officer, performs or discharges any of the duties of an
election officer in regard to the handling, counting, or canvassing of any ballots.
Accordingly, providing any unauthorized or non-official vote-by-mail ballot drop box may
constitute a violation of Elections Code section 18575 and other laws.

They want to be stopped from cheating, because they can't help it and just don't have the personal responsibility to do the right thing. They need law and order to correct their behavior. Everything has become a projection admission from Republicans.

Are they planning on just delivering Republican votes? How do they determine who voted for who? If they open the envelopes that will likely show signs of tampering. Are they just planning to deliver them en masse? On my ballot, if you have someone deliver it for you you're supposed to put the name of the authorized deliverer on the ballot envelope. Are they just planning to dump them? Do they realize that ballots are tracked in this state, and that voters can ask for a provisional ballot of theirs isn't received in a timely manner?

The California GOP is not the brightest group on the planet, not by a long shot. I got a letter last week from the head of the Santa Clara County Republicans (poorly written and laid out, BTW) that claimed we'd have a Socialist state if we elected Democrats. At the end of the screed it listed examples of horrible socialist countries - Cuba, North Korea, the usual suspects - as compared with great captialist societies - like Sweden.
