....enlistments (eight years) as a culinary specialist. His typical work week involved doing ice carvings for banquet table centerpieces for big Pentagon affairs. Please explain to me why this is part of our military budget and maybe I will better understand why we even have military bands.

but military bands make sense.

There are events, parades, drill, promotions, openings, closings, commissionings, decommissionings, etc. that benefit from the pomp and circumstance and service bands are a strong driver of unit cohesion and morale.

Music has always been part of an armed force--back thousands of years, in fact. (Ice centerpieces, maybe not so much...)

Of course using a military band for a president's campaign rally doesn't seem like an appropriate use of it...

I’d probably need to see if they were serving a purpose (do they actually help recruiting, training, etc. )

regulation violations, if any are documented upon a thorough review of all the facts of how this came to pass. It sucks when you are in the position of choosing between breaking the law or telling the POTUS "no" -- but which of those two options is the correct one is not in dispute.
