Photoshop failure: Upstate N.Y. Republican Senate candidate adds fake cops into campaign mailer

ALBANY — An upstate candidate touting his support of law enforcement sent voters an obviously photoshopped mailer making it appear as if cops were standing next to him at a press conference.

Mike Martucci, a Republican seeking to unseat Sen. Jen Metzger (D-New Paltz), superimposed a pair of officers over a shot of him standing at a dais on a piece of campaign literature, drawing derision from Democrats.

The altered shot drew condemnation from a rep for the Senate Democrats’ campaign arm, who likened Martucci, a self-made millionaire who started and sold his own school bus company, to President Trump.

“Serving people and establishing trust is an important part of public life and if you even lie and mislead on your own political mail than clearly you can’t be trusted," said Dem spokesman Mike Murphy. "This guy makes Trump look honest.”

He's got two county sheriffs endorsing him, mostly on the basis of the Democratic candidate (Jen Metzger) opposing cash bail. The oppo ads claim his school bus company had over 100 accidents, including one where the driver was found to be under the influence of morphine.
