Biden en route to Erie (PA), will speak about economy

When Joe Biden arrives in Erie Saturday he'll do something that the Democratic Party's 2016 nominee did not: He'll have visited every media market in the battleground state.

Biden left his home in Wilmington, Delaware, shortly after 2 p.m. en route to the airport. He is expected to speak in Erie at 4:45 p.m.

The news of the Democratic presidential nominee and former vice president's visit was announced in a travel advisory Friday.

Biden "will meet with members of organized labor, business owners and entrepreneurs, and other members of our community," according to the Erie County Democratic Party.

He is expected to address the economy.

However, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Biden will not hold any public events.

"Many of you have already emailed or asked on social media how you can participate and where you might hear Vice President Biden speak on Saturday," said Jim Wertz, chairman of the Erie County Democratic Party, in an email to local Democrats. "Unfortunately, because of COVID precautions and local guidance on group gatherings, there will be no public events with the Biden Campaign. We appreciate your understanding, and we know that some of you will be disappointed not to be in attendance. But rest assured, that the work you've done and will continue to do to election Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the weeks to come will not go unrecognized by Vice President Biden and the Biden Campaign."
