South Carolina witness requirement to mail in vote?

They’re going to steal the election right in front of our fucking eyes this is fucking unbelievable.

If they do this if they steal this election I hope people are really really really angry, fuck I can’t even get out the door to go get my pneumonia shot without hearing another attack on my country

1. I was angry last night when I heard it

How do you expect people to get a witness when we are in a pandemic? OH right, it's just a flu......

2. we have one here (NC) too

it was 2 witnesses but now down to one. Since I am working I went to a fellow teacher's room during our planning and had her sign off. Otherwise I would have had to vote in person since you literally have to cast your vote in front of them (they don't have to see how you vote, simply that you vote).

3. Makes no sense at all.

We have a witness requirement in North Carolina too. We have to sign our ballot request, and the Board of Elections has our signature on file in our registration.

4. The worst is that it is happening when people have already voted.

And voters will have no way of knowing whether their ballots arrived within the two-day grace period and they've been disenfranchised.
It is absolute theft, and it is likely to cause Lindsey Graham to be reelected.

5. Yup, and that's the least of it.

Prior to the pandemic, we had to have a "legitimate" excuse to even get an absentee ballot. The list of "legitimate" excuses was mighty short, and "global pandemic" was not on it. This state is a backwards fucking hellhole.

6. This is a physical war on us, no different than if a nazi soldier was standing guard at the

polling booth preventing you from voting.

We need to UNDERSTAND that and act accordingly...but how?

How do we react to these fascist killers?

7. The signature thing is how it always has been.

It was suspended by lower court judges. The USSC just set it back to normal. You think I don't "UNDERSTAND" that they're trying to keep people from voting? I have been having to deal with this kind of shit here for decades.

8. OK, I stand corrected. The difference between now and in the past is

the courts are now filled with constitution haters.

The GOP is now all constitution haters, etc.

It is different now...I didnt mean you of course with that remark, it is just me BEGGING people to be prepared for how bad this can get, we aint seen nothing yet is my point.

There is NO legitimate reason for a witness signature and I consider it unconstitutional, ANYTHING that stands between you and your vote is...

Voter ID also unconstitutional.

10. Witness signature? Just like voter ID, unnecessary and easily can be shown to be unconstitutional.

11. I don't know

MN doesn't require an ID to vote in person, but to request a mail in ballot you need to provide a state ID number or Social Security number (maybe only last 4 digits). MN also has same-day voter registration, so you can register at the polls. Voting by mail has greater restrictions AND is more secure--another reason Trump's argument is a complete fabrication.

I would think if the laws requiring signatures were illegal they'd have been struck by now. They aren't new. Now, I'm not familiar with the S Carolina law, but I can say I don't believe any election regulation or process should be changed during or in the lead up to an election.

12. Witness signatures? I dont see how that is constitutional...imagine the barrier that is for

someone living alone, no transportation etc
