Axios: GOP's Great Depression as Internal Polls Show Total Collapse-"Bottom falling out"

https://www.axios.com/gop-great-depression-trump-coronavirus-covid19-74bcbf69-d14a-40a1-9867-ff7a277a0f68.html

t's the storyline of a Republican nightmare: A mask-disdaining President Trump gets the coronavirus on the eve of the election, against a political backdrop that looks dire for Republicans.

Driving the news: Some top GOP operatives, privy to data from swing states, tell me that this week's chaotic presidential debate had a calamitous effect on Republican chances in tight Senate races.

"The bottom is falling out everywhere," said a longtime Republican insider.
This insider said the debate didn't faze hardcore Trumpers. But he said it turned off "open to Trump" swing voters, especially women in suburbs.

"Everyone knew Trump was capable of this kind of behavior," the insider said. "But these voters had never had 90 straight minutes of that behavior thrust in their faces."

I would never vote for tRump in a million years, but I was still repulsed by his bullying, shouting and general bulldozer behavior at the so-called debate.

I had heard that he did stuff like this, but like the women in suburbs, I was not prepared to see it full blast. I was horrified and sickened.

Smugness and complacency on our part are the Hail Mary of Republican strategy right now. Remember, a wild animal is at its meanest and most dangerous when wounded and cornered. We’ve all seen the video clips of MAGATs punching Democrats in the face. Expect that on a national level, because that’s what is coming.

We do not let up even after the election. Only when the last race has been definitively decided do we let up, because that mean, wounded animal that is today’s Republican Party still has sharp, diseased teeth, and they are looking for any opportunity to use them on us.

Watching some Youtube videos on a computer without ad-block and every five minutes a different attack ad on Biden popped up. Very outlandish stuff. SO much bs it wasn't had to see it as desperate, fabricated garbage. Voters watching this would see it for what it was.

...this monster and not nominated him at all. And finally, finally, he was impeached by the House, and the GOP Senators, in their greed and cowardice, let him get away with his crimes.

Steve Schmidt is right: this is a party rotten to its core, a party that needs to be razed to the ground, only reconstructed during a long sojourn in the wilderness.

“The bottom is falling out everywhere.”

I hope that the republicans suffer a soul crushing defeat across the board. I’m looking to win 63 states, a few territories and 8 zillion electoral votes.

And a bit of something for the republicans

After watching the first 15 mins of the debate, a 70ish female friend who is a life-long republican, declared she would vote for Biden. Trump's behavior was grotesque to her.

According to most, Biden won the debate largely due to Trump acting like a barbarian.

The Republicans got what they voted for. Any sympathy I had for them was exhausted years ago.
