Pretty tired of the chastising people for their thoughts
Everyone is reacting to all the news differently lately abd all of us have our concerns, our thoughts, and our stresses. It is one thing to discuss people’s posts but these declarations that MUST stop thinking this, or are ridiculous for thinking that are not helping anyone except spreading angst here.
Please try to accept that people are dealing with their own reactions to an increasingly offensive, dictatorial, and frankly scary for a lot of folks.

1. Granted
People are also amazingly uniformed as to what should be basic junior high school civics.

17. Seeing this irrelevant video over and over again
is getting pretty tiresome. Especially when it shows up multiple times in a single thread.
How about you give it a rest unless it is relevant to the conversation (not a response to someone's signature line). Or - better yet - put it in your signature line since it is a response to someone else's signature line. |

Human nature, and all that.

4. Yep. Some folks just can't resist telling us how to act and think.
Everyone processes startling information differently. Let’s all chill out and stop the lecturing.

5. Who's scared??
I'm not scared...I think I want Trump to not die just yet...I think I want him to suffer excruciating pain and organ damage before he makes a recovery riddled with lingering side-effects..in his delusional haze I think I want the ghosts of the 204,000 dead to surround his bed and scream FUCK YOU ASSHOLE into his fat ugly orange face every second of every minute of every hour...I think I want the entire White House support staff, housekeepers and servers to walk out leaving the
vicious asymptomatic Melania and Trump's vile reptilian children to take turns wiping his fat ass while they too are taken down by this "hoax"... and to any Thought Police who may be reading this and are offended: I DON'T CARE DO YOU?!!! |

6. Are you a woman? Are you a poc? Are you medically uncompromised?
Lots of people have reason to be scared, worried, or any range of emotions regarding this wannabe dictatorship and his administration.
Your current state isn’t indicative of what other’s are or should be. |

11. I'm a 72 year old widow, mother of 2, grandmother of 5
child of Holocaust survivors...very little scares me...Trump doesn't scare me...he's a vile aberration...a mirror of the worst of the worst...and still I'm not scared...we are bigger and better than Donnie and Mitch and Barr...and we will win...I learned to count from the numbers branded on my parents' forearms...I listened to my mother scream at sight of a train...my grandmother didn't make it to the camps...when the Nazis rounded up the Jews, my grandmother was pulled out of the line and she was tied to a horse's tail by her long red hair, dragged until she was skinned and decapitated..this while her family was forced to watch in horror...oh, and Dr. Mengele "stitched" my mother's twin brother and sister together by their thighs and "observed" them until they mercifully died...I was raised to anticipate the next Hitler..and to survive...no I'm not scared...I'm pissed as shit...

Hear! Hear, agingdem, best expression of righteous indignation I've heard in a long time! As children of trauma of the ever-present past and present, we're not raised in fear.

14. Look feel the way you want to
Look feel the way you want to. That’s fine just quit telling others how to feel and what they think. Discuss but let’s not declare that you can or can’t have an opinion or feel a certain way about something.
Not a big ask. Not a difficult concept. |

18. I'm not telling people how to feel...I'm saying this is how I feel
Last edited Fri Oct 2, 2020, 05:11 PM - Edit history (1) I have zero compassion for Trump, his family, and his enablers...they've hurt the people most precious to me...my dearest friend lost her elderly parents to covid within a day of one another....my daughter and grandchildren have been tested twice...my grandson had covid before it had a name and with his acute asthma he suffered..my granddaughter's roommate had this, also before it had a name..she still has lingering side effects..I'm in the let's-sacrifice-granny-for-Trump's Dow demographic...I don't care if I die...I'll sacrifice my life for my children and grandchildren but never for the orange lunatic ....I don't care if Mitch, Donnie, Susan, Lindsey, Bill, Trump and his vermin die..that's what I call herd mentality (immunity)...this is how I feel...

13. I'm not offended by your post and I support it 100%!
I don't scare easily either. I also am not easily intimidated or spend my life sitting around thinking what awful thing could happen next. I'm also a 71 year old grandmother.
Life goes on. I don't care about any of that evil/criminal/no morality family. |

19. Excellent. I realize you're reacting to today's specifics, but Nanny-ism is a general thing.
I woke up today ready to post a rant on your same topic here, after yesterday a member stepped into a thread that had been going well and squashed the whole mood with a personal peeve request.
We are (what, 500,00?) members strong, meaning individuals of 500K traits and tastes, ranging across all levels of age, education, emotional maturity, capacities of tolerance and temperament. And on top of that we are Democrats in our Democratic coalition of sub-groups, each sub-group having its own separate #1 agenda topic, with some sub-groups actually antagonistic to other sub-groups. There’s also the distinction of DU’s “Group” rules vs the General discussions, where Groups can dictate. And we have Purists who claim more entitlement over the rest of everybody, going on to Nanny the board, but more than that, to: *BULLY.* Because they claim to more Right based on feeling that their own being aggrieved is more intense than anybody else’s. It’s the zealotry of the Converted, like they own the board. To treat somebody as an equal is not to pander to the sub-group. Pandering is not equality, it is covert patronizing/condescension. And having realized one’s integrity of their sub-group doesn’t mean getting special privileges. Here’s what might be my Signature line after the pestilence of SHITER is out of our lives: **********NOTE: This thread is *NOT* about what YOU want, so *NO* diverting it in that direction, no flaming, nannying, gatekeeping, bullying, suppression of Democratic virtues of free thought and expression, outraged self-righteousness, and other such vociferous incivility.
