Pope refuses interview with Pompeo.

From Reuters:

The Vatican said on Wednesday it had denied a request from Mike Pompeo for an audience with Pope Francis, and accused the Secretary of State of trying to drag the Catholic Church into the U.S. presidential election by denouncing its relations with China.

That's from Yandex Translate - probably close enough.

I can imagine the Pope chanting it and having Pompeo cross himself.

I'm glad the Pope is calling this out. Maybe he can shame them into ending their fixation with abortion and focus more on helping the poor.

He's not perfect, but I do like this Pope (and I share a birthday with him!)

have taken all over one issue, “abortion”. Texas priest said if you voted Democrat you’re not Catholic. His bishop supported him. Happened in CT too. I’ve stopped going to church.

The Pope can tell when he's being used as a political prop, and he declined the dubious honor. Makes you wonder why our sage pundits of the political class can't see it.
