Yes, the balance of power will have shifted, but why do they hold this up as some major accomplishment for Trump? There was no effort, courage or skill involved. Just good luck on timing on their part with RGB, ratfuckery on Gorsuch and shady dealings with Kennedy's retirement for Kavanaugh. Nominating SC justices are what presidents are empoweed to do when they die or retire and Trump has had a Republican Senate. Big whoop.

(10,358 posts)The Federalist Society did. The new majority swears they won't "legislate from the bench". Fine, the coming Democratic landslide will offer ample opportunity to write "SCOTUS-proof" laws. Over-ruling written law would open the Supremes up to impeachment. Perjury is an impeachable offense.

(1,685 posts)Lets hope we flip the Senate. Nothing I would like better than to see the Dems blast those spineless jack offs on the other side of the aisle.

(1,406 posts)They know he is a loser and a sucker (ask KIM) and they know is a functional illiterate BUT they have to try to make him look smarter, braver, and more beloved than his African American predecessor who was just voted by international polling as the most admired man (and his wife, the most admired woman) in the world. Imagine how they have been trying so hard for the past three years to accomplish this impossible fete.
It really is a sorry scenario when your supporters have to brag about your accomplishments when all they were was undoing what your predecessor had done. And many of these dolts are cheering to have their own healthcare taken away from themselves.
Bizzaro land we live in.

(26,729 posts)Between Nixon and Bush II, Republican presidents appointed nine straight supreme court justices - yet still didn't have the conservative control of the court that they desired. To actually end up with conservative control of one branch of government - likely for a decade or two - is bound to strike them as a victory.
I know I view it as a major loss.
