Trump wants to lose the election I believe.
He and his family has been taking boat loads of money from the campaign the government and stashing it away for the day he loses. He knows he will be able to slither away with no prosecution or consequence for his crimes. His loyal subjects may take the fall for him and that's fine with him. He's tired of trying to actually work or fool everyone he does work. He's been the president now and can brag about it and continue to grift on that alone. There's nothing left in it for him.

20. Yes... and doesn't really want the work
I feel like he ran for the praise and thought it would be 24-hr praise, not realize that the presidency is a thankless job.

But the states of limitations are up during his second term.

7. I don't know how he slithers away without prosecution
New York state has plenty on him, and it's pretty clear they'll use it once he's out of office.
However, I would believe that he thinks he's going to lose and he and his family are taking every last penny while they can. |

8. I don't agree. The stakes are higher than in 2016, when he just wanted to juice up his brand.
Winning this year means keeping a job he hates, is terrible at, and keeps a spotlight on him at all times that's not always fulsomely complimentary.
But losing this year means going to jail forever, or into exile in Russia. Not sure which one I'd pick. Have to flip a coin on that one... |

19. Putin won't want him once he's useless
He'd still be good for getting his base's knickers in a twist, but once he has no power and Putin has moved on to his next Manchurian candidate, he won't be particularly welcome in Russia. In fact I think Putin will get a lot of jollies out of turning him away.
But he could still go to Saudi Arabia and live well. Maybe that's his plan. |

23. Russia won't want him.
Why would they?
His assets are likely to be frozen the minute he's not president and criminal cases drop. The denouement of Trump by Putin will be nasty, brutish and short. And inevitable. |

9. Nope. He is doing this because he knows he's going to lose.
And, he knows that he's headed to prison when he does. They are most certainly looting the GOP's campaign coffers, that's not in question. He and his cronies are stealing away as much as they can, and hiding it for the time when they make a break for it. It's all being stashed offshore, so that they can access it once they reach whatever non-extradition country to which they wind up escaping.

10. At times it seems like it, but he and other members of his family are allegedly
facing criminal prosecution, or at the very least are the subjects of investigations.
It's true, he's not "running for president" in any sense of the word, but he's doing everything possible to remain in power. Based on the books Fire and Fury and Disloyal (Michael Cohen's book) I'm convinced his "best case scenario" and the thing he planned for was to lose in 2016 and parlay that loss into a bunch of Trump Organization projects. |

15. I wondered about this myself
Seeing the skimming/smash and grab going on with all that cash. He seems to be dragging ass most of th time, and may be tired of it all. He recently stated, "If I lose to him, I don't know what I'm going to do. I will never speak to you again," Trump told the attendees at the rally. "You'll never see me again." Donald's used to his "family business" where he simply does whatever he wants and answers to no one. Except for the attention he gets at rallies, he seems bored. Ivanka & Jared have made a ton of money, she has her Chinese patents. The increasing corruption and power grab is turning the electorate against Donald, except for this base/cult. If he really wanted a second term, why not do more for the people?

16. No. That would require a degree of strategizing I doubt he's capable of.
He's probably not even planning some kind of realistic exit from this country if he does lose.
Never forget that he is a narcissist, through and through. Nothing and no one is real except him. Which is why he lies constantly, can't be bothered to learn anything, and says anything at all that comes into his head. While he is saying it, it's true for him. And when he says something completely the opposite in the next sentence, that statement is then true for him. He loves the perks that come with his current "job". He finds it highly annoying that he does have to do certain job related things, like put up with briefings, but since he doesn't read what they hand him and doesn't listen to what they say, it hardly matters. |
