1,259 New Covid Cases in Iowa Reported in Last 24 Hours. Why? Guess who was in Iowa 10 days ago.

The Trump campaign made their way through Iowa over Labor Day weekend. Then there was that Trump Boat Parade in Coralville on Labor Day. Looks like we're about 10 days out from those events and voila!

Red hats will line up for the chance to get sick, hurt the economy, and watch Grandma die just to own the Libs.

1. Hopefully this will have an effect come voting

Trumpsters have drank the koolaid--we all know that, but it has also been said they won't realize until it affects them personally and hard. If they get Covid-19 and spread it to their family they may get angry enough at Trump/Pence not to vote or to pull the ticket for Joe/Kamala.
One can hope.

3. Most will get over the virus and still believe Trump.

I know several here that this has already happened to. They have to kill a family member I guess before they MIGHT question their belief in Trump!

5. We can hope they won't vote Trump again. But be prepared, they might just blame Obama instead.

It may be too late for some of them to regain any sanity they may have had prior to 2016.

16. Lots of Republicans have become never Trumpers

It gives me hope that others may, too. A dead family member and obscene hospital bills could help.

18. You're right. It's a good thought to hang on to.

And where would we be without hope?

20. Exactly!

We've held on to hope for the last 4 years. Because of it we will be the blue wave that stops the red droplets cold.

2. We were trending down

pretty nicely, especially in Johnson County, where UI lives. I am familiar with frustration, as I think most of us are.

7. It's frustrating and really sad. One would think we'd learned the social distancing/mask wearing

lesson by now. Sometimes I wonder if that's even possible.

8. Really?

Not about your county, because you would know better.
But, the graphs don't suggest a downward trend over the last week.
The 7 day moving average did fall quite a bit from late August into September. Have to turn on the moving average by clicking the box under the 2nd chart.)
That average appears to be going back up for around a week.

4. So his rallies are serving a purpose ... they're providing more data points on incubation period.

A statistical analysis of COVID infections in cities where 45 has held rallies could be very enlightening, and help shape public policy (outside the WH, anyway).

6. Yes. This would be good information for the Biden campaign to use.

It would also be helpful info for public health officials.

9. Waiting for that shoe to drop in NV

Gov Sisolak threatened to make Douglas County pay back some of the CARES act funds they received because of violating the statewide restrictions.

That rally was a 10 min ride from the local high school my kid goes to -- the only high school in the area. We know of a handful of high-school kids who went to the rally with their parents. Waiting for the proverbial shoe to drop on that, too.

I hope the gov does snatch the funding $ back from the county and give it to the schools in the district

10. North Dakota was very high-over 500

and South Dakota was almost 400. North Dakota now 15th and South Dakota now No. 20 in Cases per Million

13. ND has had a big jump over the past 3 weeks.

Eyeballing it, it looks like double the average from the three prior weeks.

Similar for SD.

11. The number is not up that dramatically from Friday cases recently

984 the prior week, 1129 the week before that. (The same data source, for consistency, says today is only up 1017 from the prior 24 hours)
