Black pastor who confronted Trump at town hall shreds president's 'laughable' answers on racism

A Black pastor from Philadelphia who confronted President Donald Trump during an ABC News town hall on Tuesday told CNN’s John Berman that he was not impressed by the president’s answers to his questions about racism in the United States.

During the town hall, Pastor Carl Day asked the president to talk about the last time he felt America was “great,” as many Black Americans feel that the president has nostalgia for a time when Jim Crow laws were still in effect.

Trump replied that America was great six months ago before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

“Six months [ago], he told us, it was great or greater than it’s ever been,” Day said. “So before the pandemic, that’s when it was finally great.”

Berman then asked Day what he made of the president’s claim that America was great for Black Americans six months ago.

“Man, I think that’s laughable,” he said. “Very, very comical. What I do think, and what I do believe President Trump himself and many others are doing, are showing their hand. They haven’t done the journeys in the cities, when I asked about the ghetto, the hood, they haven’t spoken with folks.”

Day then revealed that, while he won’t be voting for Trump in the fall, he still hasn’t made up his mind about whether to support Democratic rival Joe Biden.

And he still hasn't made up his mind.................

1. Well, if he doesn't vote for Joe Biden, he's not really doing anything to make things better.

Just more "concern"...

Not sure if he's going to vote for the Vice President of the first African-American President in American history?

Not going to vote for the ticket that will give us the first woman, and a woman of color, Vice President?

Okaaaaaaay……

2. "Still hasn't made up his mind about whether to support... Joe Biden."

He's a moron.

Him saying that on CNN is tantamount to helping Trump. It's idiotic when viewed along with the words that just before came out of his mouth.

3. well, he is a 2016 Jill Stein voter that is still considering Trump going into the town hall

In this interview, he said the way to change his mind is if any candidate would say specific policies to help low income blacks in inner cities. That seems like such a hard thing to do because you can't target a specific group in your economic policies, or at least it's very hard. Best I can think of is $15 dollars minimum wage but that didn't move him in 2016 nor 2020.

4. Decisions, decisions

Pastor Day hasn't decided whether to vote for the guy who served as vice president under a Black guy and who chose a Black woman as his running mate. Maybe you need to sit down with that for a few minutes, Carl.

5. 15 minutes of fame

How else could he have gotten on television for his 15 minutes of fame?
