1. And that's with our Infector-in-Chief and his Reputincan governors

fiddling with the numbers.

These people should be imprisoned for crimes against humanity for making virus transmission a political issue. This is not stupidity: it is COMPLETELY intentional.

The fiddling with the numbers is the cover-up, which the Reputincans excel at.

2. Kids are back at school, young adults are at college, and the bars are sliding by as restaurants.

Sports competition is also opening to the public. The number of infections will spread and the number of infections to the most vulnerable also will spread. Stupid policies will always produce tragic results.

12. I'm doing okay with my recovery, but I can't get out much except for medical appointments.

While I can get up and down the stairs at my apartment, I need another person to help since I can't carry the wheelchair with me. I'm waiting to hear whether I might have a home health aide come by on occasion to do tasks like laundry duty and clean up the place--although that person will be cleaning up after my brother instead of me.

I'm also waiting to learn the results of the COVID test for the patient care coordinator that my brother works with on his job. The county where my brother and I work at has a 2.6% infection rate, while the county where my brother's colleague works with is at 3.8% infection rate. If my brother's colleague comes up positive, then my brother will have to start isolating which means that I would have to be the one to do the grocery shopping while also start to consider isolating myself.

4. Was it Clemson's coach

who said that half of his team was previously infected?

Also, the flu is coming and cold weather will drive people indoors. It looks like the predictions of 400k plus deaths by the end of the year will be a reality. Sad.

No worries, just get a dose of Trump's "herd mentality."

7. Americans generally have short attention spans

We've been conditioned, mostly through TV, to need constant stimulation or we get bored.

The scale and scope of the Covid-19 crisis is mostly outside Americans' ability to comprehend. The time scale is far too long for the average American to grasp. It's like trying to comprehend the size and age of the universe: It's too much information for an average mind to process.

Bluntly, we're a country full of ignorant, impatient and entitled jerks. We expect the solution to present itself after the next commercial break. We don't understand the science and how long it takes to make discoveries. We expect a magic pill to be introduced quickly.

The results are that we can't wait to go back to the gatherings and behaviors we had a mere year ago. Bars, restaurants, sporting events, religious gatherings and the like will only increase the spread of this virus. Without an effective vaccine and its global distribution, nothing is going to change.

With over 200,000 American deaths, how can anyone deny the reality we're facing?!

8. Excellent summation

We're not just fighting a virus, but also a culture of denial and instant gratification that makes that fight effectively impossible.
