Now is the perfect time to come out for legal recreational pot..

Pot is popular across most political spectrums.

It will bring in younger voters.

Many states will be decided by a handful of votes, meaning that small issues, like pot could tip elections.

Issues like these put the Democratic Party IN TOUCH with voters. Issues like these lure in voters that otherwise wouldn't give a SHIT about voting.

Give young voters a reason to turn out.

Make our party attractive to young voters.

And we will win in November.

Biden can win on these issues.

Caging humans for minor pot offenses is a police state/authoritarian govt at its finest.

Pleas, explain your support for that form of heavy handed police state crapola.

Is the state of emergency.

This is not even remotely on my list of objectives.

SCOTUS
Judicial appointments
National Security (Includes Environmental / Climate Change)
Social Security/Seniors
Global Trade

I'm trying to figure out why legalization of marijuana is so critical - when so many have lost jobs, are getting evicted, etc. etc. - and they can't afford it?

Tone deaf - or comfortable in the Trump Presidency.

The past 4 years have shown that things like Fox News/OAN, institutionalized Islamophobia, systemic racism, confirmation bias, and fake news sites like Breitbart and QAnon cause more damage to the mind more than any drug.

Pro-war on drugs people need to talk about banning those things first.

Not possible? OK... then let's decriminalize some drugs and end this stupid war.

these are debates that Democrats really need to start talking about. Not just good touchy feely kinda shit.

It is time our party really address the human rights violations that Nixon's war on drugs created.

Thanks for replying.

I agree with you!

Besides being the correct thing to do as it was absolutely ridiculous to have once outlawed an herb, supporting legalization or decriminalizing would motivate a lot of people to vote!

And I believe Joe's campaign does call for rescheduling / decriminalization, but stops short of pushing for legalization.

Yes, there are other important issues to motivate people, but we need every vote!

Here is a related article and Kamala is said to have introduced a bill in the Senate about this! Here is a link:

if you actually cared about this issue you would know this issue has been on ballots in many states and did not bring out young voters.

Any divisive issue (and by that I mean an issue that divides Americans) can surely take a back seat to the main focus of winning the election, at least for a month and a half or so.

Don't you think? Why such sudden impatience?

Young people care about a number of issues; doesn't seem to result in their voting to support advocates of them.
