Quietly doing her job, knocking on the doors of those who had not bothered to do the 3 minutes of civic duty online in the Spring. I was able to guess just about every house at which she would stop based upon my knowledge of the neighborhood, there was the guy across the street who regularly has folks over for BBQs in a pandemic, the elderly couple who seems to have way too many family living with them for the size of the house that rotate over the years, the family that seems to always have trouble keeping their grass cut and a few others that came as no surprise.
I just found it sad that people are just too damn lazy to take care of such an important task.

(24,259 posts)genuinely afraid to share their info with the government and no, it's not always logical but fear often isn't.

(102,226 posts)She had a good attitude and said that there were only a few in my area that hadn't submitted online. So, I took that as a good sign. While my neighborhood has people from a range of age groups, my city is well planned for seniors and offers a good bit of help to even those who have little technical skills. Perhaps that is the difference.
I asked her how things were going and she seemed very positive. So, I am going to be as well.

(13,892 posts)I recently purchased this house and this residence did not have a response so she came to get some information. Very nice and it was a quick. The house was empty! that's why.

(6,042 posts)Usually they cut grass with polluting noisy power mowers or hire others to do it for them.
Environmentally lazy perhaps.

(4,305 posts)Quite frankly I am over cutting his lawn with hand clippers. Yes, hand clippers. Give me the damn mower. My dog has had to have weed seeds pulled out of his ears at a couple hundred bucks a pop. Not environmentally lazy, just lazy. I don't pay money to be embarrassed of where I live.

(146,286 posts)And, yes, I use a gasoline-powered mower. I do it because everyone in the neighborhood keeps their lawns mowed and because it is expected. I used to mow the neighbor's yard, too, when that house was occupied by a woman in her 80s.
I don't do it religiously. I just do it.
