One possible Trump move that I haven't really seen mentioned yet

We can see plenty of desperate moves by Trump as it appears he is heading for a landslide loss this year. Yes, I know, just vote, it isn't over until it's over, don't get cocky, etc. However, objectively, when we take fear and emotion out if it, Trump is very unlikely to win a 2nd term. All of his fuckery with the post office, Kanye West, secret police, delaying the election, none of those are likely to help him. In fact they seem to be making his position worse, not better. He is a raging narcissist and extremely dumb. Everything he is trying is destined to fail.

I have heard plenty of theories about all of the horrible things he will do to stay in power but one I haven't seen mentioned, but that I think could be possible, is that Trump ends up calling for a boycott of the election. You can see him struggling with the idea that he is very likely to lose and is coming up with all sorts of reasons why that is which have nothing to do with how shitty of a president that he is. His big one is that the election is rigged against him and is going to be stolen via fraud by the Democrats. These are just excuses so that his fragile ego doesn't have to face reality.

However, I do wonder if when we get closer to the election and the most likely scenario plays out, that Trump is down by close to double digits or even a bit worse, as he is right now, if he will tell his supporters not to vote at all. Is there not a real possibility that he will claim the entire election is invalid and his supporters should stay home? That way when he loses he can say that the election was stolen and that he chose not to win as a form of protest? Especially if reports that the Republicans in the house and Senate are ready to abandon him to his fate if by the beginning of September he is still down significantly in the polls? That could also be revenge against his own party for not doing enough to support him.

Is that scenario not one of the possibilities to how this election plays out?

He could think to himself that he was going to win but that the deep state Democratic forces or whatever rigged the vote against him, therefore he chose to keep his voters are home as a way to protest. It wouldn't be a plan to win reelection. It would be justification to himself and his supporters on why they lost.

need to keep a close eye on the Electoral College numbers! We all recall that he lost the popular vote in 2016 to Hillary. Attention needs to be paid to the states that will be close electorally in November

I certainly hope that he’s stupid enough to actively attempt to suppress the Republican vote. That would not hurt my feelings at all.

We must shut him down there. I hope we win in all the seemingly possible states that in some cases we have not won in decades (polls indicate we might). However, the blue wall states are where an EC win is assured.

If you look back at his pre-political career he has given up on plenty of ventures screwing a lot of the people around him in the process. And people with severe narcissism do have a tendency to throw a tantrum and run away when it looks like they are heading for failure

If registered Republicans don't vote for Trump, they stay home. If they stay home, they also don't vote for their republican candidates, e.g., senators, representatives, whomever. That would be unthinkable, untenable to the RNC. If Trump had that idea, he has been already dissuaded from pursuing it.

Trump will be insisting, and believing, that he won long after there is not doubt in anyone else's mind that he was trounced. He will be unable to accept the fact that he lost his mojo. He loves himself so much, he can not fathom that others don't too.

He is in for the win by any means necessary.

Keeping the EC from getting to a certified majority and forcing a vote in the house.

The pipe dream where pelosi becomes potus only happens if there is no election, and the ec doesn't meet. If the ec submits delegates, but no candidate gets a majority of those appointed, then the process is clear and the gop wins because it will be decided by one delegate from each state chosen by the state legislature. And a majority of state legislatures are gop controlled.

His actual play is to force this to a vote in the house. He does that by challenging the ec slate from enough biden states to keep him under the majority. Then the gop chooses the next potus. The senate gets to vote on a vpotus, but that takes a 2/3 vote, which isn't likely under any conceivable play.

Either that or he will break the country so badly that he MUST be cut a deal for no prosecution in either state or federal courts, that he be able to keep his campaign war chest and all the money he has stolen, and that he be honored with a national holiday and his name on everything from military bases to warships and missiles.

Oh, and he gets to keep af-1.

"Meet my demands or the country gets it."

I see him making that play long before a boycot.
