How stupid and inane are Americans?

i mean, I am an American too. But if you just step back and look at the headlines..I think our great grandchildren are going to read the history books and think "WTF!???"

We're so impatient and selfish as a country that despite coronavirus infection and death rates climbing in at least 30 states, MLB is trying to have games which are then cancelled/postponed due to player infections--people are going to Disney World, kids are becoming mass spreaders at summer camps.

and we have a president who along with his political henchmen are dismissing expert doctors like Fauci, Birx, and others in admin saying we need to ramp up our vigilance.

The president spouts hydroxyxhloraquine bullshit on a daily basis despite evidence disproving his claims.

it actually hurts my head to think about how stupid and ineffective our nation has become under Trump.

2. but it must be a sizable minority

for GOP to do next to nothing to bring some sort of sanity to our national dialogue.

I am teetering toward hatred of what my country has become in my 50 years as an American.

6. We have become an idiocracy.

I have a bumper sticker that says:

MAKE AMERICA
SANE AGAIN

I saw another one recently in the take-out lane at Taco Bell that said:

1 in 3 Trump supporters
are just as stupid as the other two

-- Ron

7. From my experience most people just don't think. Some like the Prez & support anything he says or .

does. Some hate him and nothing he does is right. Baseball is just trying to honor the TV contracts they've signed to keep from losing millions. The American people are very impatient people. The virus thing has gone on too long & they're tired of it, so they ignore it. The grandchildren who actually read about this era will see us for what we are.

24. I never meant to sound like I ever support DT, I can't think of anything he's done strategically re

ANYTHING! My neighbors are strong DT supporters & they always have an excuse for his actions. That's all I meant, They don't THINK at all. he's just always right to them.

10. As long as there are no penalties

for bad behavior, it's likely to continue.

Seat belts, speed limits, reckless driving, running stop lights, etc., all have penalties for noncompliance with the laws.

Maybe there needs to be some kind of mask law that expires in six months if not renewed. That might be enough to convince some idiots that this is not some "big gubment" plot to usurp their "rights" but rather a way to buy some time and save lives until it is known if and when a vaccine can be developed and widely distributed.

Anderson Cooper had an ER doctor in Berkeley on earlier who said "our rights are going to kill us."

13. Hard to say - we inane and stupid Americans voted Obama in twice.

Not sure things have changed all that much in three and half years - just our leadership - all the other elements of our society are pretty much the same, the worst elements just happen to be in power at the moment.

Glass half full and all that.

14. so what? we voted 8 years of peace and prosperity under Clinton and decided that was no good

and got wars, domestic terror attacks, and multiple recessions under Bush. I am not talking the political. I am talki g ALL of us and how we don't have the mettle to stare this existential crisis down and just do the right thing.

15. I agree

stupid and inane. No serious people in this administration.

Few in journalism and media.

Unserious people.

Maybe this is what happens when people get too comfortable. Lazy-brained.

17. i think so. at least in 80's and 90's you had large swathes od Americans who

had fought through the bitter Depression, Dust Bowl, polio, and WW2 with horrific death and suffering.

These days, our country doesn't seem to be well grounded for the future.
