Romney-nomics: Never Give A Sucker An Even Break

While thrashing around trying to sleep this morning I realized that I could boil down Rmoney’s and Ayn Rand acolyte Paul Ryan's attitudes towards the voters that would ignore their agenda concerning Social Security and Medicare to just one phrase: W.C. Field’s classic “Never give a sucker an even break.”

Think about it. Many of the people most likely to vote for Mitt are social conservatives, older than average, and are either likely to be on Social Security and Medicare or soon will be. The younger ones either don’t worry about Social Security or Medicare or have convinced themselves that matters like gay marriage, abortion, and pornography are more important when choosing a candidate than whether they, their parents, or their challenged relatives are to be provided for.

As for those parts of the electorate who have chosen to remain as politically inert as they were in 2010 or who vote Democratic, they’re suckers by definition. After all, by Mitt’s and Paulie’s standards, they’re either undeserving takers or have chosen to vote for that (alleged) Democratic “culture of dependency.” And if such a voting bloc is unable to rouse itself enough to defend its interests, it deserves to get fleeced.
