NYT: Trump was never invited to throw out the first pitch at Yankee stadium and was jealous of Fauci

WASHINGTON — An hour before Dr. Anthony S. Fauci threw the first pitch at the season opener between the New York Yankees and the Washington Nationals, President Trump stood on the briefing room stage at the White House and declared that he, too, had been invited to throw out his own opening pitch.

“Randy Levine is a great friend of mine from the Yankees,” Mr. Trump, referring to the president of the baseball team, told reporters on Thursday as Dr. Fauci was preparing to take the mound. “And he asked me to throw out the first pitch, and I think I’m doing that on Aug. 15 at Yankee Stadium.”

There was one problem: Mr. Trump had not actually been invited on that day by the Yankees, according to one person with knowledge of Mr. Trump’s schedule. His announcement surprised both Yankees officials and the White House staff.

But Mr. Trump had been so annoyed by Dr. Fauci’s turn in the limelight, an official familiar with his reaction said, that he had directed his aides to call Yankees officials and make good on a longtime standing offer from Mr. Levine to throw out an opening pitch. No date was ever finalized.

He is so envious of truly intelligent, accomplished people who didn't need daddy's help to get where they are in life.

And another thing that drives me up a wall is when he refers to everyone he knows as "A really great friend of mine", even when he's only met them only once or twice and they probably hate his guts. I don't think he has one real friend in the world or one relationship that isn't transactional.

He doesn't know the meaning of the word.

Fred Trump created this monster. He is incapable of changing at this point in his life. As the virus continues to spread and his failure gets bigger, the lies will soon take over everything. When he loses the election, it will be like nothing we have seen up to this point.

for donnie, it just another ho-hum matter-of-fact story about a lie. the media covers it with a yawn. a story with no "legs".

but when they catch a democrat in anything they can even pretend to be a lie, they are relentless, keeping the story alive for the entire campaign or even long after it, running stories from every angle. how can they govern if they lie, how can anyone trust them, how can they negotiate with trading partners or with adversaries, etc. they did this with hillary, gore, even gary hart.

but donnie, seriously, all these derivative stories they run against democrats finally are blatantly relevant with donnie, but there isn't anything near the level of media interest in running those stories.

Yet, he has to lie because his fee fees got hurt, because somebody who works under him threw out a baseball.

There is absolutely nothing inside of Trump. There is no core to his being. He is just an empty, babbling meatsuit.

In most instances, the minute any other president "accidentally" said he'd planned to throw out the first pitch on a date certain - you know, like if he somehow mistakenly thought he'd been asked (wink wink) - the team would be delighted and jump to make sure he got an invitation to throw out the first pitch on that date.

The fact that, even after Trump put them on the spot like he did, no invitation was forthcoming, and he had to "cancel" his appearance due to a "conflict," is very, very awkward ...
