This just arrived in my e-mail inbox. Playbook p.m. A snippet:WHAT AN ABJECT DISASTER of a morning for the three Ms: STEVEN MNUCHIN, MARK MEADOWS and MITCH MCCONNELL.
AFTER A FEW WEEKS of anticipation, the SENATE GOP LEADERSHIP had to abandon its plans to release a Covid relief bill after disagreements on policy with the TRUMP White House.
TO PUT THIS IN CONTEXT: Republicans cant even get on the same page with each other for a bill that is simply meant to jumpstart negotiations with Democrats. In other words, the bill that the WHITE HOUSE and SENATE GOP LEADERSHIP are arguing over will never get a vote. Now think about how hard it will be for Republicans to put together a big package with Democrats over the next few weeks.

(1,789 posts)Why does the White House get a say in this? Get something that will pass with a veto proof majority and pass it. The average voter won't revolt over Trump's policy wishes being missing from the bill, but they sure as hell will notice if nothing passes or if they let the veto stand. Force his hand for once.

(28,787 posts)it isn't funny. it's tragic. people are going to be getting put out on the street hungry.
i begin to wonder if that is the plan. homeless people will have a difficult time voting.

(11,648 posts)Voter registration must be updated with current address. Because many votes are address dependent. School board, water district board, bond issues, city council, etc. But many : President and Senator and governor, etc. are state wide.

(3,695 posts)The bill was written so the last payment issued will be by July 31. The last day of unemployment covered will be July 25 or 26 depending your State's cut off date for the week. I don't think many people are aware of this provision in the bill. The rule is explained in the article below.
