District Attorney Krasner Statement on Trump Administration Actions Targeting CitiesPhiladelphia DAO

Read it here: https://medium.com/philadelphia-justice/district-attorney-krasner-statement-on-trump-administration-actions-targeting-cities-f5a8add29d59
Because it's brief, I'm posting it in its entirety here:
PHILADELPHIA (July 20, 2020) District Attorney Larry Krasner on Monday issued the following statement on the Trump Administrations verbiage claiming he may deploy federal law enforcement to American cities including Philadelphia:
My dad volunteered and served in World War II to fight fascism, like most of my uncles, so we would not have an American president brutalizing and kidnapping Americans for exercising their constitutional rights and trying to make America a better place, which is what patriots do. Anyone, including federal law enforcement, who unlawfully assaults and kidnaps people will face criminal charges from my office. At trial, they will face a Philadelphia jury. Its the least we can do to honor those who fought fascism, including those who are fighting it even now.
The Philadelphia District Attorneys Office is the largest prosecutors office in Pennsylvania, and one of the largest in the nation. It serves the more than 1.5 million citizens of the City and County of Philadelphia, employing 600 lawyers, detectives, and support staff. The District Attorneys Office is responsible for prosecution of approximately 40,000 criminal cases annually.

(48,000 posts)And think how much inspiration and support DA Krasner's resolve sends to mayors and DA's in other cities.
It's trite but the original 13 states, PA, VA, MA, NJ in particular, have a tradition forged in the Revolution that shaped state Constitutions, legal code, practices, and rights that linger to this day. PA's original Constitution, which has had 5 revisions and many amendments, was ratified in 1776.

(11,885 posts)Criminal charges , then civil charges on them all. Judges need to stop this now from escalating by ruling now stopping these unconstitutional assaults on peaceful demonstrations. If they do nothing , expect trump to continue expanding his threats sending his goon squads attacking peaceful protesters, then his targets will include Democrats and opponents with Barr manufacturing charges with false claims to go after them with. Before the election Barr for trump will claim they're criminals . I also think they'll start targeting all minorities with violent goon squads , likely during the election to intimidate voters with if judges refuse to stop this now. trumps following putins playbook now more every day .

(11,250 posts)but chilling to know there are so many willing to fill the ranks in Trumps goon squads. Fascism is no longer on the Hope It Never Gets Here list, its here.

He's already said he'd govern by decree if he has to.
We'll see if that happens and how much he can get away with.

(36,237 posts)I do believe our DA for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (also a Democrat) would echo this message if he's asked. For that matter, all the major cities of Pennsylvania would fall in line right along with Philadelphia.

Never heard of FJP before and it's refreshing to hear of their work. Will consider a contribution to them the future!
