Last night did an update and even when I click on my Chrome, where I have all my sites, when I click new tab it automatically is taking me to edge and I cannot find a way to dismantle. I am so computer stupid. Does anyone know anything about this and how I can get my chrome new tabs?
Edit: I am leaving this here because I saw at least one poster that had the same issue with edge. There is an easy fix.
Settings
Search browser.
it will pop up a choice for Chrome. But, even that they are manipulative by having reset, which will reset to fault being edge. I hate dishonest. Manipulative.

(7,947 posts)The update reset your "default Search Engine" and "New Tab" setting.
Click on the three dots on the upper right of Chrome window.
Click on:
Settings
On Startup.
Click on Either "New Tab"
or... "Specific Set of Pages" - and put in a couple pages (DU!).
This means, when you start Chrome, you'll either get a blank window, or the front page of the sites you choose.

Not done yet! Go up to Search Engine
Click on Search Engine in Address Bar and choose Google.
Click on Manage Search Engines and choose Google== click on the three dots at the end and "Make Default." (You can choose another, but I assume you want Google.) I went ahead and deleted the other search engines because I never use them.
I think that will take care of it.
Sometimes you might install something and it will change your search engine, and this is how you can get it back to what you want it to be.

(14,118 posts)with maintaining Firefox as the preferred browser but each time Edge was installed I went to Programs in Control panel and uninstalled them.
In Win 7 I have to select any update to install it so when Edge showed up there I just hid the damned
update. In Win 10 we can't do that but we can shut off all updates for a selected period of time.
That's what I'm doing there. So far so good.

a correctable condition!
