I know with taxes the payroll tax decreased some but we are paying out more in our tax return. ACA did cost people because health insurance was required, so I am not going to say anything about that. But what has Trump done that cost us more today?
China has increased cost of goods for us? We pay more at the end of the year?
Thanks.
Edit: Also it is being said Obama worked with Putin the same as Trump when I discussed the bounty. I know at first Obama tried dialogue with N Korea and didn't work then got tough. But where are they getting Obama treated Putin the same?

(9,937 posts)money out of pocket. Now if they cared at all about people they would not prefer Trump with all the ugly that he is, but they are going only off of what is costing them money. So to them, now having to pay is a higher cost out of pocket even though the compassionate and reasonable person sees it as needed for society as a whole.

(9,937 posts)cost only, so I have to give them that. Hence looking for other areas living expenses increase with Trump. And for corporations, not something for society as a whole getting insurance.

(9,937 posts)But it seems to me Trump has done things that are ending up costing people a lot more money. Like Truckers now do not get to make certain deductions so it would be a net loss for them.

(21,794 posts)States with an income tax or where property taxes are high mean you pay more federal taxes than in prior years, when you could deduct the full amount.

(11,492 posts)Payroll taxes fund social security and medicare and are a flat rate (except for people who make more than 140,000.)
Income tax rates vary based on your income, and are what the GOP goes after every time they get in power, by reducing the rates at the top end. The last tax cut did almost nothing for lower and middle class workers. A lot of middle class workers saw an apparent decrease in their income taxes, only to have it taken back by the cap on local and state tax deductions when the filed.
If you look at the historical data since 1980, what has happened is that the progressivity has been almost entirely eliminated by removing the top tax brackets. Everyone in the middle is basically paying at a tax rate about the same as they did before tax cut fever took hold.

(31,147 posts)If you live in a high property and income tax state - it's a direct hit on your finances. NJ -
That cap means I can only deduct 10K from the IRS for my state and property taxes. My property taxes are just under 10 K and my income tax is over 10K.
I'm basically paying property taxes to support our local schools (about $2900 per quarter) AND property taxes to Fed Gov. We get 83 cents back for every dollar we send to DC.
If one lives in a low payment, high return state that does NOT fund it's public schools - it's an even bigger win for them. It's a complete transfer of wealth to those who wish to not do their civic duty and fund their own damn schools. And it's not lost on me that many of these states fund their 'Christian Schools' and leave their de facto segregated school children to suffer.
Tariffs - the first year of the new tariffs - my companies tariffs bill went from about $2 million per year to $98 million per year.
US Manufacturer.
They aren't processing duty drawback or made in the usa certificates anymore - they are only focused on detaining new Americans who are undocumented, locking their children into cages, and inflicting monumental amounts of abuse of those innocents.
So yeah - I'm 'whining' - don't care. I've had it.

(9,937 posts)Reality, I did not want to do all the researching for info but I do want to reply to this information. I am also going to have to do a lot of listening to Biden sexual abuse that he threw out and debunk. I hate wasting my time with these people but a nephew that I feel the need to put in his place. Takes up tons of my time, when I know information is not a priority for him but it is more to address the people not in the conversation.

(9,937 posts)admittedly uninformed shit, he is going to listen to me. He started it, lol. Next is going to be the poor abused police and me not caring they die. Pragmatic, realistic, fair reforms. Then I will move onto another he threw out. But all in my time. It may take a couple days. Lol.
Thanks.
I will probably be reaching out often the next 5 months for people that know this on hand so I do not have to do all the researching.

(49,906 posts)It's crazy. I went on a search for paper towels last week and found 1 store selling a package of 3 generic rolls for $7 plus change. They got to keep them. This week another store finally got a shipment. Pet supplies have gone up. I had an offer of a free can of cat food called "Reveal." To my horror, the little can - which I paid zero for - was priced at $1.69. The cat loved it, of course. On further inspection it's just tuna and broth, nothing special. If the cat needs a treat it can share my Starkist.
