no matter who wins the election.

If Biden wins, there will be lawsuit after lawsuit by that orange thing, followed by him burning it all down in his last days in office.

If he somehow ekes out a "win" (by outright fraud, the aforementioned lawsuits, or people simply not turning out), he'll go full dictator and start arresting people.

as you say, but with more victories to go with the failures, as in Obama's administration.

My thought is, though, that if we get control of the senate also (cross fingers, shades of 2016!), we'll be so busy rescuing and advancing our nation that the Repubs will have scrabble for media attention for their dirty lies. (They need coverage of lies to be overwhelming, as in 2015-2016.)

But either way, no one on our side should pay the slightest attention to baseless lawsuits. The allegation is NOT the crime. And more people on both sides are finally wising up to that dirty, overused tactic.

A second Trump term IS really scary. At least the current SCOTUS and the military have been signalling they won't go along. We have reason to believe McConnell's senate would support anything he believed would protect his power, but at worst he's unlikely to have a strong majority come January.

if they'd vote to get rid of him - there are certainly enough Republican Senators who would love to see him gone, especially reasonably freshly minted ones with a few years to go before their elections are due to happen and we'd only need a few.

With Trump just a regular citizen again, I wonder how much influence he'll really have - certainly he'll hold on to most of his base (for his own personal financial gain of course), but I'm not sure he'll have much influence with elected officials (at least the ones not squarely representing a high percentage of said base).

I know, but it's on the schedule and should be mentioned.

My biggest question is 7/12 - 11/3. The battle for national and planetary power is enormous, a number of enemy nations are ranged on the Republican side against us, and it's not over until it's over. Nominating Biden's a strong move, while the pandemic is a wild card that could enable either side to prevail. Since orderly process will shut them down, the Repub-Russians need all the civil and procedural disruption they can manage to create.

But after November 3, if voters give us control in DC, we'll be in a position to offer Trump -- and others with nightmares of prison cells -- deals most probably won't be too self destructive to refuse.

with steady hands. I truth Joe Biden and his team and the Dems in congress to get this done firmly and decisively. I am enjoying the thought of watching repukes storming for the exits as fast as they can (they have weak knees, ya know).

I'm sure. How awful to be an Iranian or Syrian family wondering if their very survival could be jeopardized by Putin's imperialist ambitions and the desperate attempts of a depraved whackjob in DC to avoid disgrace. And of course their own callous-to-war-criminal RW leaders.

trump will constantly blather as to how the rigged election was stolen from him. He's already set that narrative with his mail in ballots whining. The trumpanzees will believe it was in fact stolen by those dirty democrats. They will take up arms via their AR-15s and exact revenge on the celebrating democrats. Dark vision I know, but it's a world where it damn near happened over the Pizzagate nonsense, and that element I described has already gathered in groups with their AR-15s in order to intimidate lawmakers and anyone else who disagrees. Not much of a spark would be needed.

Hope to God I'm wrong on all of that

Too many things have transpired that I never thought in a million years would happen.

There's a wide range of emotions that Donald's administration has sparked in me:
Anger
Embarrassment
Heartache
Dismay
Bewilderment
Distrust
Disappointment
Unhappiness
Exasperation

I'm sure there's more, but there's been no joy or excitement.

If current polls prove true and Biden wins decisively, Trump may need to pivot into saving his own ass. The whole scenario of resigning so Pence can pardon him may not be far-fetched. In order to make it look legit, he would need to resign in late December. The question is...will Pence do it? And could there be a challenge to the pardon being legit. If there is a president elect and the current president resigns so his VP can pardon him isn't that like pardoning yourself? It would definitely be an SC case.

This is not a prediction but a hypothetical. RBG suddenly keels over while the current Senate still has a few weeks in office before the new Senate is sworn in. Let's be optimistic and say Amy McGrath has ousted the turtle, but he still has four or five weeks before he officially has to turn over his Senate seat to her. That mean's he's still the Senate majority leader technically for those few weeks. What do you suppose the turtle would do? What do you suppose the orange con man would do less than two months before he has to leave office? That loathsome orange thing would immediately name RBG's successor, and the turtle would call a special session of the Senate and hold hearings and a vote in RECORD time. Never mind that when Merrick Garland was nominated and the turtle said "we should wait until the American people decide" TEN MONTHS before the inauguration and this time it's only a few weeks, never mind the stunning and breathtaking hypocrisy, that loathsome orange con man and that equally contemptible turtle would do it. Would they be able to get away with it?
