Three things I learned this weekend - $$$

First - Iíve needed a new battery for my iPad since the beginning of the shutdown. Apple stores are back open so I went to get an appointment. Next Saturday. Apple isnít replacing batteries, they are replacing the whole iPad.

Second - horrible day yesterday. Car wouldnít start at a gas station. Me, wife, child, & dog. 4 hours waiting for a fix/tow. Iíll spare you the details other than Liberty Mutual sucks. They are clearly outselling their capacity. You get what you pay for.

Third (related) - riding to the garage with the tow truck guy. Insurance companies had everyone working at home so they totaled everything. Smashed headlight? Totaled. Hit a deer? Totaled. They didnít want their people out in the field. Should be a lot of scratch and dent cars available soon Iíd think.

2. Yeah, iDevices don't have accessible replaceable batteries.

People complain about that, but it's quicker and easier to replace an entire device under Apple Care than to troubleshoot whether any problem is just the battery and bother with differently configured/sized/powered battery replacement parts.

5. He did but almost NO ONE at the gas station did.

Iím going to do a post on it but it was busy as hell. Fried chicken place too. Couldnít wait in the AC because of the dog and because my wife was not going to sit inside in that situation.

6. Be careful with such "scratch and dent" cars

If the insurance company declared them a total loss, they will be sold with a branded (or salvage) title.
