150 Minneapolis police officers seeking disability for PTSD following riotshttps://www.fox9.com/news/150-minneapolis-police-officers-seeking-disability-for-ptsd-following-riots
They did not feel they were going to come home, said Meuser. Some officers were texting their families goodbye and others were saving a bullet in case they needed to take their own life, rather than being beaten to death, he said.
Meuser said since the killing of George Floyd, officers have felt abandoned by city and state politicians as well as the community at large. Its an emotional beatdown on a daily basis for these guys, he said.
They're suffering severe psychological trauma from the consequences of brutalizing citizens.

(10,429 posts)Such as working for Betsy DeVos' brother's mercenary organization. That seems to be more of the job they want to do.
Then Minneapolis can hire qualified trained individuals who would actually serve the public that hires them.

Their fear is the measure of their guilty knowledge of their own wrongdoing. If they did not know what they justly had coming to them, they would not have had such ludicrous, laughable fears. They do not deserve compensation, they deserve having their knee-caps treated with a power drill and turned out to beg for a living.

(26,579 posts)The abject cowardice of our Men and Women in Blue is so renowned that I honestly wonder how frequently they wet or soil themselves in the line of duty. I suspect that it's a rather frequent occurrence.

(95,244 posts)The idea they actually imagine anyone would believe these claims of desperate fear is what puts it completely over the top. A man with a pistol holding a dozen high-power rounds is in little danger of having to save a bullet for himself in face of an indisciplined crowd, particularly not if there are others so armed beside him. It does not take many corpses to chill the ardor of even the most maddened of mobs, and people in real fear for their lives are entitled to defend themselves.
I agree that nowadays, police are more or less trained to be cowards, to expect any interaction with the public may turn deadly in an instant without the slightest warning. It is self-serving, over-dramatized bullshit. When force protection becomes the chief imperative of any armed body, it cannot possibly carry out its duties properly. When one is an agent of the state, armed and empowered to embody its authority, part of the duty owed in return just may be to die. Anyone who cannot face that has no business in the trade.

(26,579 posts)from the pandemic front lines applying for disability due to PTSD. I guess that being knee deep in death and catastrophic illness, watching colleagues get sick and sometimes die, and living in very realistic fear for their own lives isn't enough to affect them in that way.
I wonder whether they deliberately select for cowardice when hiring for the police. They seem to have problems that are not found in other high stress professions.

(95,244 posts)Cowardice is both disgusting and laughable, tending towards the latter when the fear proclaimed is so obviously exaggerated and false to fact. Of course they are doubtless lying in claiming to be so frightened, and lying for the sordid hope of contriving money gains to themselves. Which makes them mere grifting poltroons --- also objects both disgusting and laughable.

I just have a weird feeling about this, these are officers that have gone through the warrior training program. They ran and abandoned the precinct. They were never in danger, they fled before any danger existed.
I'm just having a problem with heavily armed police officers being traumatized by protesters with bic lighters and newspaper kindling.
