Some Ford Employees Ask Automaker To Stop Producing Police Cars

The CEO has rejected that idea.

Ford and Americaís law enforcement officials have a chummy relationship that dates back to 1950 when the automaker introduced the first police package vehicle.

Since then, Ford models like the Crown Vic have become synonymous with police, though Fordís Police Interceptor Utility Ė the Explorer Ė has filled the void since the Vicís discontinuation in 2011.

However, some Ford employees are questioning the automakerís role in building such vehicles.

Ford police vehicles account for two-thirds of all police vehicle sales in the US, and we donít know how many police vehicles Ford sells. However, such a move in either direction would undoubtedly be seen as a political one. Those asking Ford to reconsider its stance on police vehicle production and sales likely wonít see the automaker change course anytime soon.

1. Police cars are required equipment of the police dept.

Someone has to make them. Why not Ford?

Regardless of what one thinks of the police, this level of stupidity should be publicly laughed at.

3. People have genuine concerns

I do not see that to be worthy of ridicule.

5. Genuine concerns about

Contributing to what they see as a flawed system. Just as the tech employees spoke out about facial recognition systems being developed. Yes, police need vehicles and they will get them from some source or sources, but people have a right to express their concerns without being mocked for doing so.
