It seems as if we are having to live through things that we already should have learned to avoid .... like putting a Nazi racist in power.
Oh and so much more pain from lessons not heeded.

(15,241 posts)I've learned there are three categories of people:
1. People that learn by being told (or reading) about appropriate behaviors.
2. People that need to learn by suffering the effect of a mistake once.
3. People that only learn by hitting their heads against the wall 3 times.
4. People that don't learn after repeating the same mistake over and over.
My mistake - I cover all five possibilities.

(11,686 posts)He told me so we can learn from what happened in the past and not repeat it. I told him that does not make sense. We learn that first we killed 100 people so next time we have learned to kill 1,000 people then the next time we have learned to kill 10,000 people so on and so on. We did not learn what we were supposed to learn. He had no answer for me. I have always thought that in the span of k-12 a very general history should be required and have more advanced history as an elective. If I need to learn some depth.in history I look it up and study it. The history they tried to make me learn has not helped me with my survival at all. As I said, if I need to learn something I can do it myself.
