Once again, my friend is proven right ... The courts ARE holding

"The Judiciary branch is strong and WE. WILL. HOLD"

A few weeks ago, a dear old friend, a Republican-appointed federal judge, trying to console me during a moment of despair about the future of our country, said to me “The Judiciary branch is strong and will hold.” When I expressed skepticism, he leaned toward me, looked me dead in the eye, and said as firmly as he could without shouting: “We are strong and WE. WILL. HOLD.”

1. This is why Mcconnell is so hell bent to

appoint Federalist judges. Currently, the courts are the only thing saving us.

2. Yes

He and Trump must be really ticked off that their first Supreme Court pick isn’t completely in their pocket ...

12. Their first (stolen) Supreme Court pick

I assume that they thought that they would get a straight-up replacement for Scalia, although that might be more Brett "I like Beer" Kavanaugh

4. Let him appoint them

Many will be exposed and removed - some will have shares in private juvi and adult prisons .
Follow them and the money.

6. Yes I have been saying this too.

I'm so proud of Judge Sullivan and Judge Walton also, who I spent my formative legal career practising before.

Go Judge Sullivan! Go Judge Walton!

7. McConnell's packing of the courts is going to take a while to pay off.

But pay off it will.

In 10 years, many of the Judges now holding the line will be retired if not buried. The barely-qualified 40 year old ideologues will be hitting their stride.

8. That's why we need to vote like the courts are the only thing that matters

Just like Republicans do ...

No more of that idiotic "Joe Biden still needs to earn my vote" crap.

"This is the last time I'll vote for a substandard candidate".

Oh young person, let me assure you that it is not the last time.

for those who need simple certainty. And too many do.

19. I just hope they'll hold for the female half of the population

That is what I'm most skeptical about in terms of civil rights. Women with civil rights, especially bodily autonomy, are an historical aberration to them that has us going against nature by not being chained to a kitchen stove, constantly pregnant against our will.

Still, however much I despised Scalia, we have to give the old devil his due. When it counted for LGBTQ civil rights, he came down on the side of justice and overturned the sodomy laws in Texas, specifically, and the country, generally.

They will curtail civil liberties only when they conflict with corporate might, and even then it will likely be a mixed bag and will be unlikely to uphold the rights of women.

We can live through one term of trump but we have to get rid of trump. The control of the courts is on the ballot and we have two seats that need to be protected

Quite a few Trump judges ruling against him for example.
