So, I go to my bank this morning,

and it's got a sign on the door, "closed due to COVID-19 concerns. Go to the branch office." I go to the branch office, and it has the same "closed due to COVID-19" signs. ATM machine also closed down at both places, except for withdrawals at the branch....No word about how long....Weird....

1. Antifa may have taken over the banks

Money needed to help Soros with all the payouts.

2. So much...

So much for a run on the banks.

That's a subtle way to let you know you can't have your money.

3. That is not only weird, but wildly inappropriate.

They hold your money, and you have a right to access it.

Do they not have plans on how to cope with the covid19 pandemic? It's been going on for months.

It's time to make some calls to bank officials.

Good Luck!

6. Do you have access to online banking?

If so, I'd be curious to see if online banking is open or not.

7. Yes, I do, and I use it almost exclusively, but

today, I actually needed some cash. I got the cash out of the ATM at the branch.

Come to think of it, I've read that cash can carry the virus. Thank goodness all the bills I got from the ATM were new.

8. Some lesser-used branches of my bank are closed right now, and my credit union is

ATM or drive-thru only right now.

13. All the drive through windows were closed

at both the main bank and the branch, which is mostly used for its drive-up windows....

The only thing available was cash withdrawals from the branch ATM; no other functions.

The main office ATM had a big sign covering it that said "Out of Order."

15. Our CU Reopened Monday

They shut the lobbies down on March 19th.
One branch opened earlier. The branch at Fermilab opened a week or 2 earlier.
All other branches waited until June 8.
Drive up was open the whole time, though.

20. First time I've used a bank drive-thru in at least 10 years, maybe longer

It was a bit surreal. I don't know what it's like elsewhere, maybe where it snows it's more common, but you just didn't see it much anymore where I live in the San Diego area. Before Covid, that is.

22. We Actually Cashed Out...

...a CD before the second rollover. (Interest rate falling so low, that it's not worth tying up the money for 5 more years)
We had to do that, then the transfer to the unused checking account, then get a cashier's check, then close the account.
Around a dozen signatures from both of us, while in the car.
It was a pain in the neck!

25. No Restaurants Were Open!

We actually had to pass on going out for our 40th anniversary due to COVID.
A few joints are opening with outside seating, but they're places not set up to do but a few tables.
So, we're going on 4 months without celebrating, and looks like a couple more before Phase 4.

24. same with our bank. I am using my credit card for everything. I don't handle cash at all.

I write a check for groceries since we have a wonderful neighbor who shops for us.

Cash money is dirty. I don't want to handle it at all.

11. I work for a bank

And a fair amount of our branches are closed across the bancorp, but others are open with lobby service, usually a sort of central-ish location in a particular part of whatever town or area we're in (like if you have 3 or 4 branches in say a 5 mile radius, only one of them will be open, not just one branch per town). Also in those locations, to visit with a banker (rather than just a teller visit) requires an appointment. It's to cut down on exposure to employees and customers, nothing nefarious. There's also online banking, and service via phone.

I'm sure it's inconvenient if there is not another branch nearby, but it's a safety measure.

14. I didn't think it was nefarious, but the bank had been functioning

with full services up until today.

This seems like a really sudden thing and must be really serious for them to have gone almost completely dark....

18. I didn't think you did

But other posts hinted at it. I suspect it's like davsand said, someone at the branch may have tested positive.
Glad you got your cash, have a good one!

16. Try calling your branch to make an appointment

Their website should have contact information.

We have accounts at three different banks and they all have drive-up (or walk-up) service and will make appointments if you need to speak with an officer.

Good luck!

17. Is it possible an employee tested positive and everybody is in quarantine?

I have to wonder if the corona concern is that they were all exposed and now they need to stay home. That is ugly, but maybe not exactly anything nefarious.
