Prosecutors: 3 Arrested on Terrorism Charges in Las Vegas

BY MICHELLE L. PRICE and SCOTT SONNER, Associated Press

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Three Nevada men with ties to a loose movement of right-wing extremists advocating the overthrow of the U.S. government have been arrested on terrorism-related charges in what authorities say was a conspiracy to spark violence during recent protests in Las Vegas.

Federal prosecutors say the three white men with U.S. military experience are accused of conspiring to carry out a plan that began in April in conjunction with protests to reopen businesses closed because of the coronavirus and later sought to capitalize on protests over the death of a Minneapolis man in police custody.

They were arrested Saturday on the way to a protest in downtown Las Vegas after filling gas cans at a parking lot and making Molotov cocktails in glass bottles, according to a copy of the criminal complaint obtained by The Associated Press.

The complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas on Wednesday said they self-identified as part of the “boogaloo” movement, which U.S. prosecutors said in the document is “a term used by extremists to signify coming civil war and/or fall of civilization.”

Stephen T. Parshall, 35, Andrew T. Lynam Jr., 23, and William L. Loomis, 40, were being held on $1 million bond each in the Clark County jail Wednesday, according to court records.

Each currently faces two federal charges — conspiracy to damage and destroy by fire and explosive, and possession of unregistered firearms — along with multiple terrorism-related state charges.

5. They should be charged

with TREASON. There are others, too, in various parts of the country. Agitators, inciting riots and destruction.

13. Well, at least with SEDITION

(since sedition, I believe [and IANAL, so I could be wrong], is advocating or fostering the overthrow of lawfully-elected government).

11. It did say there were state charges, so perhaps

both federal and state law enforcement was involved. That way even if they get pardoned on the federal charges they can still be prosecuted.

18. You make a good point that I'd overlooked. Keeping the arresters vague helps avoid pressures from

the Barr cabal, so that both case levels can get built and withstand any political judicial appointee's paying off a "debt." I did see the state part and federal parts.

I was just coming from the interests of journalism's rule of "who, what, where, etc." I just wanted to know if the FBI was involved, given that the FBI's looking a teensy bit awol around all things protest these days. Maybe because they don't want to get flack from the DOJ. Who knows.

Thanks.

22. It was an FBI undercover operation.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/all/three-men-connected-boogaloo-movement-tried-provoke-violence-protests-feds-n1224231

Federal prosecutors in Las Vegas have charged three men alleged to be members of the far-right extremist "Boogaloo" movement with multiple state and federal violations of conspiracy to cause destruction during protests in Las Vegas, as well as possession of Molotov cocktails.

Charging documents say Stephen T. Parshall, aka "Kiwi," 35; Andrew Lynam, 23; and William L. Loomis, 40, all of Las Vegas, were arrested Saturday on a state criminal complaint alleging conspiracy to commit an act of terrorism, material support for committing an act of terrorism and multiple explosives violations.

The "Boogaloo" movement, which federal prosecutors describe as a "term used by extremists to signify a coming civil war and/or collapse of society," has been linked to some online posts about protests over the death of George Floyd.

Glad they arrested these domestic terrorists before they could carry out their plot.

24. I know. I read the later versions that didn't exist at the time I read the OP.

Thanks for the post. I'm happy to see the FBI is on it. Because the only real threat they could see or assess is clearly with the Boogaloo Movement. I'm glad they caught them early, too.

When that movement showed itself in 2018-19, the FBI could have planted 'residents' in their midst then, and so it will continue to catch them before they drop the molotovs and shoot. The FBI had to collect the molotovs and bullets used in nationwide looter/shooter scenes to see the range of methods and ammo Boogalosers use, along with all the surveillance footage they get, so agents can match them up with other members and group methods.

Terrorist by declaration of this president is something only his own voters fall for.

20. Great. It will add more legal precedents to cases already ruled on as "domestic terrorism."

But the prosecutors have to win. Barr's probably sending the boogalooies legal help that's 'adjacent' to the DOJ.

21. These must be the fine folks in Las Vegas that Bob Kroll has been "working with"

From this article: https://wccoradio.radio.com/articles/former-mplspolice-chief-calls-for-kroll-to-resign

He also mentions the efforts of the Minnesota National Guard in his letter and says that he helped give a detailed plan to the assignment of 2000 to 3000 citizen soldiers. Kroll then mentions that he has been working with police leaders from other cities from New York to Las Vegas to, “push are messaging on a national level.”

For those who do not know, Bob Kroll is the lunatic head of the Minneapolis police union.
