CNN Reporting Law Enforcement Has Left the Streets of Minneapolis

A CNN Reporter was recently on the channel stating that she cannot see any local police, national guardsmen, or sheriffs officers in the area in which she is reporting. She claimed that an announcement was made that anyone who was currently on the streets were in violation of the curfew and then nothing happened. In another area, another reporter is reporting that protests are largely peaceful and when anyone in the crowd tries to attempt to destroy property people within the crowd stop that person from destroying property.

2. There are police out and about

They are grabbing trouble makers outside of the main crowds.

I just saw a cruiser patrolling down my alley.

3. I don't get this?

What are the cops and National Guard doing? Why would they pull back in this circumstance? It seems to me they have technical means to hold their line. And I say this with deep concern for the possible loss of life. This is troubling. The police and National Guard have a purpose here.

5. Might just be the best way for this to happen.

Violence sucks any way you look at it.

7. Reporters are not very observant

The police are around but standing back. They are not going to crack down just for violating the curfew.

The key is the protests are largely peaceful. If that changes I expect the police are Guard will make themselves very visible

For the most part the marchers are doing an exemplary job of self-policing and having positive interactions with the community.

8. I sure as shit hope that last sentence is accurate.

As someone who lives inside the loop and has in the past stepped foot inside a business or two that is now an example of the aftermath of rioters...I would like to point out that the perception of who are the good or bad guys might shift depending on how all this plays out in the end.

9. That's how the LA riots started

Los Angeles chief of police had a hissy fit, decided he wasn't going to protect the public if they didn't worship him.

Pulled back the police then pretty soon it became a great time to start looting.
