In this time of misery, i find myself remembering so many other disasters we have all lived through.
The Kennedy murders, Martin Luther King, Challenger, Columbia...I cant even remember enough to list them all.
Where were you at that moment? Do you remember?

(31,296 posts)I was a freshman in high school. I checked out the basement, wondering if my family could survive there.
My dad brought home several newspapers every day. I read all the Chicago newspapers, sure that nuclear war was coming soon.

(68,911 posts)JFK - I was home sick from school. Mom was on phone with friend waiting for As The World Turns to start.
CBS broke in with special report. Mom says, "What did they just say?" I told her the president was shot. Mom tells friend bye and runs into room to watch.
RFK - Happened middle of night. It was the talk at start of school (6th grade) among everyone.
MLK - See RFK
Challenger - Left work for lunch with some R&D folks from France. TV was on at restaurant. I was I mid bite when it blew up.
9/11 - I was at the airport waiting to board a flight to Atlanta. Announcement flights were all delayed. Went to magazine stand and was watching lady's TV when 2nd plane hit. I picked up my stuff & headed to car. I knew we weren't going anywhere. As I was exiting the terminal, announcement said all flights suspended indefinitely.
There are more, but yes, I have such recollections.
