Hey Blue Cities! How Many of You have Hate Radio on your Biggest AM Station?

Norfolk VA? Retrumplicans say "Go Fuck Yourselves"! Fire some police and firefighters and steal their pensions. Not one cent in federal emergency help for you.

Columbus OH? Retrumplicans say "Go Fuck Yourselves"! Fire some police and firefighters and steal their pensions. Not one cent in federal emergency help for you.

Los Angeles CA? Retrumplicans say "Go Fuck Yourselves"! Fire some police and firefighters and steal their pensions. Not one cent in federal emergency help for you.

Charleston WV? Retrumplicans say "Go Fuck Yourselves"! Fire some police and firefighters and steal their pensions. Not one cent in federal emergency help for you.

Nashville TN? Retrumplicans say "Go Fuck Yourselves"! Fire some police and firefighters and steal their pensions. Not one cent in federal emergency help for you.

Do you support a major University sports team? The radio station that broadcasts their games say; "Go Fuck Yourselves"! Fire some police and firefighters and steal their pensions. Not one cent in federal emergency help for you.

The Retrumplicans have declared war on you, and their major propaganda weapon is deployed right in the heart of you.

How many of you have ignored Hate Radio, or said; "oh, first amendment and all that... besides, they're only preaching to the choir".

Well, we now have our very own Hate Radio president.

He, and his cult, don't give one EFF about New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, etc.

In fact, they don't give one EFF about cities in red states. Charleston WV, Cleveland OH, Atlanta GA, Milwaukee WI, St Louis, MO??? They don't give a fuck.

The only thing they care about when it comes to cities is to make sure they have a monopoly on those cities radio stations and the economic power of those cities for the advertising of their Hate Radio stations.

See, you're not real America. Real America is some godforsaken shithole, where when you order Chicken Cacciatore, they bring you chicken thighs boiled in ketchup.

It's amazing how a few million people out of work in big, beautiful blue cities sends the entire economy off a cliff, and yet, the federal response is; "fuck you, you're on your own". Well, it would be amazing if you've never listened to, or paid attention to the radio stations that rely on your infrastructure, workforce, security protection, economic power and SILENCE for their very existence. I mean, you didn't just let the burgler in the door, you've helped them fill their bag.

Inattentiveness has paved the road for where we are now.

They've told us who they are for 40 years.

What's most maddening is that we've helped them. They couldn't support 1,000 Radio stations across this country without the audience, economic power and prestige that comes from our great cities.

If Limbaugh was NOT on the radio in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Oakland, he wouldn't be on the radio in California.

If he were NOT on the radio in Columbus, Cleveland, Cincinnati and Toledo, he wouldn't be on the radio in Ohio.

If he were NOT on the radio in New York City, Albany, Buffalo and Newark NJ, he wouldn't be on the radio in New York or New Jersey.

If he were NOT on the radio in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, he wouldn't be on the radio in Pennsylvania.

Hell, if he were NOT on the radio in Charleston and Morgantown...he wouldn't even be on the radio in West Virginia.

How many will have to die? How many cities and states will need to be bankrupted? How many amoral assholes will need to be elected before we do something?

For 40 years, the Retrumplican and Hate Radios goal has been to turn us all into Dumbfuckistan, Murika.

It's a Damm Shame we've helped them.

2. One here is KQQQ affectionately known as KKKQ, Pullman, WA. Not a blue city but

in the bluest part of eastern Washington which is red. It's also just across the border from the University of Idaho at Moscow, which is a pretty liberal town.

3. K/R This and Faux should have been dealt w long ago.

Newscorp Fox and Rupert Murdoch have had far had too much influence in Australia, the UK and US in 45 years.

Break up US media consolidation, update and restore the 1949 Fairness Doctrine ended by Reagan in 1986 that led to Hate Radio monopoly.

8. Maybe on the radio, but if you're referring to Fox News,

the Fairness Doctrine would have no effect, they're on cable, of which the FCC has no authority as cable doesn't require a license to broadcast.

9. Exactly

The Fairness Doctrine would stop this.

Republican owners of radio stations have dumped higher rated progressive talk for lower rated conservative right wing talk.....they get less money from Ads but know they can more than cover up for that with tax cuts.

They depend on people with non inquisitive minds to take in all their lies as facts.

Add in Citizens United and we are on the precipice of Autocracy.

10. I just love how people want to throw away the 1st Amendment

because they don't like what they hear.

And the Fairness Doctrine wouldn't do what you think it would, it wouldn't apply to cable or satellite, the FCC has no authority over them as they don't require a license to operate.

11. The 1ST Amendment argument in this case is BULLSHIT

Sure, they have a First Amendment right to broadcast what they want... within reason.

The citizens of Blue States and Cities also have a First Amendment right to protest the ever-loving-shit out of what they broadcast and petition and organize protests and boycotts against what is broadcasted in their community.

In fact, I'd argue they not only have a right to express their displeasure with these stations, they have an obligation to considering the harm that is being done to them.

You have a First Amendment right to call me scum.

I have a First Amendment right to tell you that kind of speach is not welcome, or profitable.

what I said was that it's wrong to try to shut down speech one doesn't like by using the power of the govt.

21. Where in my post did I call for using the power of the government?

That's not what I'm saying.

I'm talking about a majority of the citizens rising up to combat propaganda that directly harms them and their community.

I truly believe that Democratic majorities in those areas have the power to combat the hate being spewed against them.

which you seem to want to shut down those stations.

I, myself, am a 1st Amendment absolutist, I may detest what the RW stands for, but I will defend their right to spew their crap.

29. Nowhere, in any of my posts, did I say one word about the Fairness Doctrine

That being said, I don't know enough about the Fairness Doctrine to really have an opinion about it. I'm convinced that people throw that out there because they also don't know much about it, but it's a quick and good sound bite, like "Butter Emails".

From what I understand, it requires that you have both sides of political issues given the opportunity to get their views expressed.

We don't have that now. We have nothing but righwing propaganda spewing with no counter.

It appears that America did not become a dictatorship, or authoritarian regime when the Fairness Doctrine was the law.

But that is not what my post is about.

I'm simply pointing out that, in major Blue Cities, where Democrats and Progressives represent 70-80% of the population, there are radio stations headquartered there, and benefiting from the economic power of those cities, that spend 24/7 describing the residents of that city as anti-American Scum.

I happen to think there's actions those citizens can take to put those stations out of business, or get their views respected and addressed.

It's the same for universities that rely on the economic power and quality education provided by liberals and Progressives that have their sports broadcast on stations that spend the other 165 hours of the week describing the residents and citizens that support those universities as antii-American Scum.

I happen to think there's actions those citizens can take to make sure the universities know there's consequences for supporting Hate Radio.

That's it! Not calling for The Fairness Doctrine.

I'm calling for all out boycotting and protesting war against Hate Radio.

That's, to me, the highest form of honoring the First Amendment.

30. Sometimes I can be a real dumbass.

I looked back at the posts and you're correct, you never did say anything about the Fairness Doctrine, it was someone else, so, in the spirit of fairness, I deeply apologize for my mistake.

I did fully read your latest reply to me and I have to say that I agree with you 100%.

What most people, who put forth the Fairness Doctrine, don't know or do know but just want to get a good sound byte, is that the Fairness Doctrine didn't apply to cable or satellite, so programs like Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, etc. wouldn't have to abide by it as the FCC has no authority over those platforms.

Once again, sorry for my mistake and you have a great evening and weekend.

7. AM? Try FM.

Mr. Oxycontin has been on FM throughout central NC for years now (thank you iHeartRadio - not). Used to be AM, but iHeartRadio (previously known as Clear Channel) decided to try and get its personalities on stations they own. So they flipped a few rimshot FMs to "News"/Talk and move their "stars" there. The AM stations that acquired FM translators have largely switched to music or sports. At least that's the case in central NC.

12. Never, ever listen to AM radio and it's not due to rampant hate stations either.

AM is much akin to what my parents/grandparents listened to long ago as FM did not yet exist. Not cool at all! Not hep (hah!) either.

Besides, many years ago Wally Phillips and AM talk formats drowned out most music. Today and for many years now, FM is/was the way to go to listen to radio music. Here in Chicago, as I flip through stations, there doesn't seem to be much of any hate stations. Hope it stays that way.

In parts of the San Francisco Bay Area, Rush can also be heard on distant stations from Santa Cruz and Sacramento. (Until several years ago, a Fresno AM station too!)

My guess is, he can't. He relies on the reach of major markets, and he relies on thousands of citizens NOT showing up on the sidewalks outside of those stations to protest.

25. Progressive radio simply dried up and died...

And that's the biggest problem. We used to have a progressive radio station in Portland Oregon, but it died. It was entertaining and informative and even humorous at times. It went for 24 hours a day, and I remember it had Mike Malloy on at the Midnight Hour.... which was quite fitting.... as his language sometimes got a little raw. Randy Rhoads, Thom Hartmann, Rachel Maddow, a few locals and a few others... and we had it to balance out the hate Radio from the likes of Lars Larson and Hannity and O'Reilly and other lower life forms of humanity. The thing is, it wasn't profitable... the almighty determiner. It had no political backing from the DNC or any other Progressive organizations... so it died.

People called in, and it was informative and often confrontive... but it was essential for political balance in our community.

The right-wing just kept pumping their hate ignorance to all the empty heads that lived within their range. It did the job of filling them up with misinformation and anger and hate... and I'm not even sure if they were profitable.... but they persisted and they grew.

Today, you can drive across the country and find hate radio in just about every nook and cranny across the entire country. Often times you can find it on three or four channels at the same time... that, and Evangelical Bible thumping, fear mongering and hypocritical licensed hate.

The fairness Doctrine was repealed... and now there are only a few seeds of progressive radio in some of the more populated areas of the country. Not sure if they are profitable or not?

But I can tell you this, if it continues like this, we will always be fighting an uphill battle with unbelievably bad odds. NPR is the only station that soothes the progressive ear. And often they are involved with "both siderism" information.

The DNC or other Progressive movements need to invest in talk radio... primarily in large metropolitan areas... but also across the hills and mountains and valleys outside of the big city.

If they don't get involved.... well..... you know

26. I think the bottom line is that OUR billionaires aren't nearly as dedicated or patriotic

as THEIR billionaires.

Just a few could do it... Bloomberg, Buffet, Steyer. Hell, a consortium of millionaires could do it. We have TONS of those.

Clear Channel/Iheartradio, Sinclair weren't built overnight. It was a long term strategy.

Apparently WE don't do long term... If we did, we would control a few more state legislatures, since we frequently already win the popular votes in those same states. Yet due to gerrymandering......

And I also take issue with "free speech" meaning it is ok to present LIES as TRUTH.

If we are going to accept that THAT is now allowable as "free speech", we damn well better tale advantage of it.

But we say, OH NO, WE CAN'T BE LIKE THEM. We better WAKE THE FUCK UP AND DO WHAT IT TAKES.

The REAL kicker is that we could USE THE TRUTH and do it, but we don't.

27. I agree with you 100%...

Our billionaires certainly could do it. We just witnessed Michael Bloomberg wasting half a billion dollars on his foolish quest to buy the Democratic nomination for the presidency..

I believe there would be advertising on the radio networks but maybe not enough to cover the expenses. There certainly are plenty of progressive or liberal-leaning businesses that advertise elsewhere.

I'm not sure I get the concept of free speech. I don't believe in stifling the right wing and Evangelical voice... I just view it as the progressive voice is mute. We have been playing this game with one hand tied behind our back.

and television stations have been consolidated into several giant monopolies, like banks, airlines and retailers in the last 35 years since Reagan dismissed the Sherman Anti Trust Act.

The US media needs regulation again, not monopolization.
