Poll: 54 Percent Blame Bush And GOP For Economic Woes

Poll: 54 Percent Blame Bush And GOP For Economic Woes

More than half of voters nationwide attribute the country's current economic problems to former President George W. Bush and Republicans as opposed to President Barack Obama and the Democrats, a new poll released Thursday shows.

The latest release from CNN shows that 54 percent of likely voters think Bush and his Republican colleagues are more to blame for the still-sluggish national economy, compared with 38 percent who blame Obama and the Democrats.

It should be noted that this is not a new trend. CNN has found that at least 50 percent of Americans pin the lion's share of the blame for nation's economic woes on Bush and the GOP dating back to September of 2010.

The republican controlled house. Bush isn't on the ballot anywhere.

We need to get them out of there.

Mitt’s Uphill Climb

Republicans and folks in the media may mock President Obama for pointing to President Bush as the culprit for the country’s continuing economic woes. But beyond accuracy, there’s a reason the White House keeps making this argument: people believe it. They say people have short memories. But according to a new poll (and most other polls on this question) clearly majorities of Americans continue to blame President Bush and the GOP for the country’s economic problems. And that’s a real problem if you’re Mitt Romney.

That’s not all bad for Mitt. You can still argue that even if it’s not Obama’s fault, he’s just not up to the task of fixing it. But that’s a much tighter argument to have to make.

Mitt has other issues to deal with, like being accused of having less credibility on foreign policy than Sarah Palin.
