DOJ Wants to Suspend Certain Constitutional Rights During Coronavirus Emergency
The Department of Justice has secretly asked Congress for the ability to detain arrested people indefinitely in addition to other powers that one expert called terrifying
The Trump Department of Justice has asked Congress to craft legislation allowing chief judges to indefinitely hold people without trial and suspend other constitutionally protected rights during the coronavirus and other emergencies, according to a report by Politicos Betsy Woodruff Swan.

(115,669 posts)on business and social gatherings are oppressive and in violation of people's constitutional rights, and has threatened to sue states and governors for being "excessively" restrictive. So I guess it's OK to keep some poor person (it's always a poor person) accused of selling loose cigarettes, for example, in jail indefinitely without a trial or habeas corpus, but it's not OK to keep Karen from getting her nails done or Bubba from attending a monster truck rally?

(12,712 posts)Is this part of the disaster capitalism where they intentionally send mixed signals to jam people? The cognitive dissonance can be a conditioning factor. Sowing confusion on a regular basis can be like weapon in itself.
I am not being paranoid about it. That's how it would work. The two actions contradict each other and if that is purposeful, which I think it is, we have a dangerous mind game there. What should we expect though, from their ilk?
