World War II we had Rosie the Riveter...

World War II we had Rosie the Riveter. Women working in factories, sacrificing, for the war effort

1. I had this convo with a friend last night

My grandparents had ration books. I’ve got 4 types of cereals in my pantry. We are soft.

4. There's a local restaurant that said they're reopening for dine-in on May 1

Even tho current FL executive orders prohibit that until at least May 8

At first there was a flood of support on their FB lost. People beating they can’t wait to come pay $8 for a damned grilled cheese

Then the common sense people came in and it turned into a melee.

Last I checked it about 3:1 against reopening

Good to know 25% of area residents are selfish f*cks

8. My Mother in Law

who was a nurse during WWII, saved aluminum foil until she died in 2010. It was a habit she found hard to break.

13. There are still a lot of people collecting tin foil.

Unfortunately, they're making hats out of it.

2. I know someone who has to have a specific brand of toilet paper...

...and they are down to their last couple rolls. They are panicking because they can'f find it.
They got mad when I told them they were ridiculous.

16. I agree: This is the latter day Rosie

The whiners and complainers can just sit themselves in the back seat and shut up more; the grown-ups are trying to fix things.

6. There will be shortages of things we have become used to getting easily.

I remember my mother's stories of how they coped with shortages of common things during WWII - like sugar, which was rationed. They would draw a line up the backs up their legs so it looked like they were wearing unavailable nylon stockings (which had seams in those days). With meat-packing plants closing we might not be able to get some meat products. I wonder what other kinds of foods will become unavailable.

9. Why has Karen become an insult

I know several Karens and they are not complainers. It they take umbrage with this stupid use of their name I have their backs.

17. It sucks because it demeans women. And in a superficial way. Where's the Bill meme, I wonder.
