Maybe our ONLY option is to Do what we are doing and let the idiots do their thing?

THEN sit back and watch the results! Stay calm, stay safe, stay indoors as much as possible! Some innocent people will get the virus BUT with this bunch of MURDERS in charge, all we can do is BE SMART! Protect OURSELVES and OUR families as much as possible!

Let them work the court. Tie them up in court. Keep them overnight in jail.

4. Well, I'm high risk, so I will not be coming out until there is a vaccine or

a treatment that stops all the dying. So anything they open up without that - I can confidently say that I won't be there. I feel that is my only option.

5. I'm to the point where I couldn't care less about the Teabagger "reopeners"...

it's those that will have to deal with their selfishness and stupidity that I care about (first responders, healthcare workers, service industry employees, etc.) And if the re-open losers become infected and require vents -- screw 'em -- treat the people who played by the rules.

One whined about being furloughed and having to take vacation time and not being able to afford a trip to the Creation Museum. Get a job as a delivery person, asshole! Freedumb, indeed.

34. That's the real problem.

The excess burden they will place on the healthcare system and the ethics of who to treat when the system becomes overwhelmed and it becomes clear that some people will have to be sacrificed.

Is it fair to decline treatment to a middle aged person who has stayed in quarantine and has taken every precaution to protect themselves and others in favor of someone in their 20's or 30's who has behaved selfishly and recklessly and practically wished the virus upon themselves and spread it to others?

9. Yep.

Let them hang themselves.

I got a call.from a friend.

Her grandson left the house to go to a party.

She caught him coming home.

She told him he had to go stay in his car.

She packed up.his stuff and put them outside.

Her grandson is 25 years old, old enough to know better.

Her husband had heart problems.

Some people are just stupid.

The only one I can control is myself, I have no interest whatsoever in trying to control anyone who is too stupid to understand what is going on and that they not only may die but they will more than likely kill their loved ones also...So turn em loose and let em exercise their rights. We can stay away..

19. The problem is that there are innocent people who will be hurt...

...that don't have the option to isolate themselves from these idiots. That makes it our interest to control their behavior, whether we want to or not.

If and only if their self-destruction was entirely self-contained would it be OK to let these idiots do as they please.

once they start dying. And there certainly aren't enough of them to restart the economy if the rest of us stay home and protect ourselves.

Late summer is going to have a whole different look this year.

22. I have a strong sense of intuition...

I've had a sense that this was coming for a while now, I moved for other reasons last year but the garden was very attractive at first glance.

I couldn't work it last summer because I was helping out at a farm and was managing the food resources there. This year, not doing that so I can focus on growing and storing organic food for myself and my one neighbor with whom the garden is shared.

36. You're exactly right

They just take it for granted that they'll immediately be taken care of, should they become infected. They won't expect to have to wait in line. Furthermore, if there's no ventilators available, they'll demand one gets taken off of someone else.

23. When to sit it back v. when to stand up?

I wonder about this. Not saying it is right or wrong, just that I wonder. My mother's family fled Nazi Germany. I was very close to my maternal grandmother. Momentos of the life of my grandparents left behind were characters in my childhood, especially one small sculpture of a beautiful woman. My grandmother's brother was an artist and it was a sculpture of the woman he loved. He planned to follow my grandparents to the United States but was apprehended by the Nazis as he went to find this woman before leaving. He later died in the Terezin concentration camp.

Anyway....this is not the worst "holocaust impacted the next generation" story. There are so many that are far, far worse. All I am saying is that this history started me thinking at an early age about what I would do in the face of great injustice. Would I be willing to die to protect life and all that is sacred? I found myself thinking this as I read the post. Didn't many otherwise good people in Germany fail to protect the jews because they feared for their own lives and families? PLEASE UNDERSTAND I am not saying Trump and CV19 are in any way akin to the holocaust!!!! What I am saying is Trump has the potential to use this crisis to further consolidate power through his usual disgusting, lying, criminal, constitution-defying tactics and layers and layers of further harm could ensue.

Maybe I should be taking a stand right now on the capitol steps. Holding a sign every day and hoping others join. OK, maybe not that, but something to boldly stand up rather than hunker down and protect myself simply because it is the right thing to do in the face of evil life-destroying actions. Problem is, here is where I don't want to leave my house and expose myself to the virus. I don't want to risk my income or jeopardize my business. I want to hunker down and wait it out, but isn't this what allows things to go so awry for the earth and humanity-hunkering down because we don't want to risk it all. Those Germans that really spoke out or harbored Jews or aided the resistance risked it all. Again, this is not the holocaust, but still, this disturbed individual, his immediate cronies and the type of capitalism that lets the scum rise to the top are threatening the health of our people and the ability of our beautiful planet to sustain life and all that is good.

This probably sounds like naive idealistic inertia. Maybe I am a coward, but I wonder about really stand for despite all risk and when to do it and this post just brought these thoughts to mind. Wondering if anyone has comments or can relate. (Try not to be too terribly hard on me or at least don't totally demolish me. Although I have been reading DU for some time this is my first comment).

The only comment i would have is i DO understand your thoughts! My wife and i have watch many programs of the underground back during the Nazi's! I would and do have some of YOUR same thoughts> I have very few answers for you OTHER than If it EVER turns to a point where they are killing in the streets here like they were back then, WE ALL would have way different actions we would want to do! For now i feel our ONLY option is to see how this plays out! After Nov. 2020 if we DO NOT succeed in getting this CREATURE out, THEN look out! VOTE VOTE VOTE like there is NO TOMORROW! God bless!!

For example: The nazis pass it on to their "fiscally conservative" ( ) spouses and friends, and then they shop where my sister-in-law shops, and she shops for me. (I keep my old ass home).

So, it ain't just them.

37. The vast majority of deaths are still over 65

And immune comprised. So even if these protesters, and under aged 60s go on as life is normal, we shouldn’t, theoretically, overwhelm the system. In the end, we may prove their point.

I am not promoting this strategy, I’m just saying if all of the at risk population remains in social isolation, that won’t increase the hospital load, and prove their point in the end.

This is just something to ponder. Because most of the most vulnerable population is doing the right thing, and will continue to do the right thing, they may win in the end anyway. There will always be the exception to the rule, and we will always have those few that will come down with the bad case, but it shouldn’t be enough to overwhelm the system, thus having them “prove their point”.

Again, I am not advocating this, I’m just saying that what they propose (continue self isolation of elderly and immune compromised) may be the way forward.
